is unfortunate he was out all preseason because it limits his chances to impress now as the only minutes he will get is through an injury or garbage time, but theres a role for either him or singler, and i would really love for him to prove he is better than him for that role. have never seen him play so maybe it wont happen anyway, but singler isnt anything special so its wouldnt be that hard.

I have high hopes and expectations for Datome. He'll get rotation PT this season - UNLESS the Pistons are otherwise getting excellent 3Pt shooting from the F's off our bench.

It'll take awhile for him to earn PT, as he's now got to get his legs in shape and start to show what he can do in practice. Also, the Pistons will likely shuttle through Singler, JJ, CV, Harrellson and maybe even Mitchell off the bench before Datome gets his chance in the rotation. But Datome does have the perfect skill set to help this team - so I can't imagine him not getting a long look.

When he gets that look, I fully expect he'll excel.

“Gigi can shoot the hell out of the ball,” Bynum said. “I didn’t know he could shoot it like the way he’s shooting it. I knew he could shoot, but not like that.” Bynum’s eyes twinkle at the thought of what might be with Drummond setting picks and Datome spotting up.

“He’ll probably be on that same side with us and that’ll make it that much more dangerous,” he said. “Gigi’s ready to play.”

“He’s been good,” Monroe said of Datome. “Getting up and down. It looks like he’s moving fine. The shot is there. He made a lot of shots. He’s definitely going to add another shooter if he’s in the rotation.”

I hope he's as good as advertised since we desperately need a shooter.
