Game 1. vs. Washington Wizards. 7:30 PM ET.

Post#1 » by dan2314 » Wed Oct 30, 2013 11:11 am

ITS FINALLY HERE! Starting the season at home vs Washington.
We still have no idea what the rotation will look like. Not even the starters.. im definitely thinking it will be Bynum/billups with siva/pope as backups but im hopeful we can start with billups/pope and have Bynum/singler or even a 3 guard rotation to for game 1.
Highly doubt Datome plays yet, but by all accounts has been lighting it up in practice. I can see about 10 mins each from CV and Jonas, neither of them separated themselves in the preseason.

LETS GOOOOOOOOO!

Thank God for basketball season, how I have missed you! Im really hoping that this is the rotation we run out tonight:

Billups/Bynum/Siva
KCP/Billups
Smith/Singler
Monroe/Smith/Datome (more likely Jerebko though)
Drummond/Monroe

I know Datome isn't likely to play but Id rather see him than Jerebko out there. I also want to see KCP get the starting nod over Siva. I don't think Siva has proved anything more than KCP has and atleast KCP is a better defensive player and also has the ability to shoot despite his shot not quite falling yet.

I think we should be able to beat the Wizard, our frontcourt should bully theirs even with the addition of Gortat. Wizards likely win the backcourt battle though.

Dre vs The Polish Hammer!

Drummond seriously needs a better nickname.

If Wall and Beal get hot, they're going to give the Pistons a rough ride. Then again, Detroit should dominate the paint.

this will be typical choke job game. i can almost guarantee we take an early big lead just to give it all away in the 3rd quarter and then failing to make a comeback in the 4th.

especially when it's a season opener at home this team is guaranteed to dissapoint

lol  I won't disagree with you, since there's not really anything to base that off either way. But it's a completely different team, who knows.

Would like to see that starting lineup but the coaching staff seems to be stubborn enough(what else is new, right?) to start Will Bynum with C-Bill instead of KCP and Chauncey.

Was reading an article on ESPN with this quote from Cheeks about Bynum starting, “Not sure,” he said. “I would rather Will stay in his role. … I like him in the second unit because he moves that scoreboard so well, and playing with Andre (Drummond) like that, I like him in that role.”

It then mentions that if Billups starts at the 2 guard, there's a good chance Siva could start, while the others are hurt. Would be fun to see... so if that's true, I wouldn't be shocked to see this tonight.

Siva/Bynum
Billups/KCP
Smith/Singler
Monroe/Smith
Drummond/Monroe

That, or Billups and KCP start. Which is cool too.

i dont think the Pistons will choke, the Wizards right now are just a better team because they're healthy and also have good size to almost offset Drummond and Monroe. Pistons are down Jennings and Stuck and that has to be accounted for so i expect the Wizards to win by like 7

With Billups and Bynum both starting, and since Chauncey cannot play tons of minutes anymore, Siva is guaranteed to get some PT tonight - 10 minutes at least, 15-20 if he can play effectively when he's in there. The question is who's the backup SG, KCP or Singler. If Gigi is able to play, then that frees up Singler to play SG.

The problem tonight is that we are playing against, perhaps, the best starting guard duo in the league in Wall and Beal. Wall's a guy you want shooting long shots, and we can defend the paint with the best of teams now, so I'm not really worried about him. Beal, on the other hand, is a great 3 pt shooter. He might maim our backup SG's, especially Singler. KCP is the better matchup - but will the rookie play?

John Wall is going to have one of those games today that make you say "Wow..." I predict a win, with Mr. Big Shot hitting some clutch threes down the stretch to seal the victory.

I like the fact that Will Bynum will prove ya'll wrong tonight!!!!

This game will be a great test for the Pistons. This is a good matchup.

I predict a loss solely because of Cheeks terrible backcourt rotation.

Doh just realized I'll get the game tonight because I'm in the DMV area. I'll miss George and Special K, but no need to stream today

I predict a win and Will Bynum will prove doubters wrong! Drummond will get a double double. But, I like the Gortat/Drummond matchup as Gortat is a physical center. Interesting.

So we're starting:

Will
Chauncey
Smith
Monroe
Drummond

Interesting. Here's hoping KCP gets big minutes at SG, and Billups takes the backup PG minutes. Don't really want to see Siva in the game.
