Toronto's Firesale

Toronto looks to be going into full firesale mode for "Riggin for Wiggins", is there anyone we can poach?

Available:
Kyle Lowry $6 mil exp
DeRozen 4 yrs/~$10m per
Amir Johnson 2 yrs/~$7m
Rudy Gay 2 yrs/~$18m
Terrence Ross 3 yrs/~$3m

Bad contracts:
Landry Fields 2 yrs/~$7m
Steve Novak 3 yrs/$3.5m

My idea:

DeRozen, Lowry, Amir, Novak

For

KCP, Singler, Stuckey, CV31

Raptors dump ~ $40M in long term money and save $5m this year while adding a top 10 pick (KCP). This leaves them able to use Gay and/or Ross to dump Fields and have max cap room alongside Jonas V, KCP & the '14 draft draft pick.

We get a starting 2, a solid defensive big, a shooter and Lowry to fill the 3rd guard role.

A rotation of Jennings/Lowry/Billups/DeRozen/Smith/Amir/Monroe/Drummond seems interesting.

I dont want anything from Toronto bc Ujiri would rape Dumars.

We need to look at Orlando, who is actively seeking to trade Jameer.

Let's take all their big contracts...Jameer, Afflalo, Big Baby Davis...in exchange for Moe Harkless

We give the Magic: Stuckey, CV, Bynum, Siva, Datome
- If need be we can add Singler/Mitchell

Starting Five
Jennings -- Afflalo -- Smith -- Monroe -- Drummond

Bench
Nelson -- (Billups/KCP) -- (Harkless / Singler) -- (Jerebko/Mitchell) -- (Davis / Harrelson)

I posted this trade about a week ago in another thread. I think Orlando would go for this deal. No other team will take all those deals off Orlando's books for pure expirings. Harkless is a small price to pay when you are saving 19-20M in one deal.

Your idea is awful IMO. Trading a promising rookie for lesser parts is not smart.

Lowry - No
Derozen - LOL NO
Amir - Meh
Gay - LOL NO - This means we're overpaying to be no better than 4th seed.
Ross- Nope, Nope, Nope
Fields - NO why oh god
Novak - Overpaid, extremely one dimensional, cannot play D or do anything else but shoot a 3 occasionally. Extremely inflated by Linsanity.

Basically, this is how you become stuck in mediocrity. By playing cards with Masai since the guy is a stat geek known to rip other GMs.

If they give us a future 1st round pick to get one of their bad contracts, then I would trade a Stuckey to them

nothing I really want, but I wouldn't be surprised if Dumars went all-in on Gay.

Stuckey/CV/Singler/Mitchell for Gay, not really all in players-wise, but cap-wise. and it wouldn't shock me if Dumars threw KCP in instead of Singler if he had to.

I would roll the dice on Ross.

This. I don't really want any of them, the only one I'd take if we could get him for little is possibly Ross.

You are SEVERLY underrating the value of the stuckey and CV's expiring contracts. You really think we cant sign anyone better than derozan and amir with 17 mil? Let alone giving up KCP aswell? Im glad some of you arent our GM

I would trade Bynum and Villanueva for DeRozen. That dude is about to break out. I like him so much I would almost consider adding KCP. Maybe, KCP, Bynum and Jerebko for DeRozen.

yeah, he's solid but he cant hit a 3 ball to save his life. our spacing would be even worse that it already is

He has been working on that. He went 2 of 5 from the 3 last night on his way to 31 points going 13 of 25. Having DeRozen and Stuckey on this team to go with Jennings/Billups/Siva is a potential contender within the next 2 years if not this year, yep, I said it.

I actually wouldn't mind bringing in Hansbrough for his energy and his antagonistic ways, I wouldn't be willing to give up much for him but if JJ and a 2nd rounder could get it done id be all for it.

Ahhhh I see what you did there. Post a nonsensical trade proposal under the 'guise of "not being shocked if Dumars did it", in case people see it as such.

ive never wanted any part of Gay, so I wouldn't propose trading a used napkin for him. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Dumars went after Gay and sold him to us as our new shooting guard, especially if we start the season of shaky. it was more a dig at Dumars than anything else though, really.

edit- or bring him in as a precursor to sending Moose out if Joe decides that's the way he wants to go. im pretty sure Joes sniffing around Rudy is all im saying.

i wouldn't mind derozan but with kcp possibly being better in the long run id probably pass. ross is interesting for a spark plug off the bench but his offense is pretty slow right now.

with our roster and their roster we dont have much need for anything.

I wouldn't mind Gay if we got him cheap and we didn't already have Smith and Jennings but that would be too much inefficiency.

no, the question is what can Toronto get for him????? Answer ZERO unless he drastically ups his efficiency between now and the deadline, and even then teams will still be leery of him.

teams aren't going to be lining up to throw assets at the Raps for an inefficient guy whos departure from his previous team didn't hurt them at all (maybe even made them better), and then couldnt even really move the needle on his current team. especially when that guys making 17+ million, that's franchise player money and Gays far from a franchise player.

the Raps basically got him for Ed Davis and the player formerly known as Prince, and if anything his values probably gone down since then.
