Josh Smith homecoming. I doubt he gets a very warm reception, and i wonder how he changes his game for that in this game. Does he come out looking to drop 50 on them? does he come out looking to pass heaps and get a triple double or 5x5? or most likely, he just plays the same, and i guess you kind of have to.

atlanta starters: teague/ korver/ carroll/ millsap/ horford

millsap was a late out yesterday in miami, which led to ayon starting, but i assume they expect him to be ok for this game.
atlanta is dangerous offensively, teague is having a GREAT year, and millsap/horford are much better scorers than they are defensively, and then kyle korver is on the wing as well. especially being on the road for us, this will again be a tough test for our defense that has struggled so far this season. im expecting a very high scoring game.

Big game for us considering Atlanta is currently 6-5 and looking like a playoff team in the East.

I wouldn't be surprised if we were battling it out with them for most of the year in that 5/6/7 seed range. And its going to be important to avoid the 7 and 8 seeds in the east because it seems like Indiana & Miami are the two clear cut best teams out East whereas anyone else could be beatable for us if we start to gel defensively.

Atlanta has a lot of guys that can hit from outside, limiting that is going to be the key to this game.

This is an interesting home and home series. Right now they are in the 5th seed, 1.5 games above us. If we win both these games, we take over 5th place (which is also technically the 4th best record in the East). So great opportunity here, basically just win these next 2 games and we'll completely erase the poor start. If we can steal tonights game in their building, you have to like our chances of beating them again at the Palace on Friday.

Also interesting matchup here because there's a chance with the Knicks and Nets looking awful that this could be a legit preview of the 4-5 matchup in the first round. So having this little mini-series against them could prove good practice/experience for if we meet again in the playoffs.

man, I gotta say your doom and gloom predictions before every game are pretty pathetic

If you expect them to lose every game, why are you wasting your time watching and commenting on them?

Well stop doing what seems to be tormenting you and not watch. If you get a chance, check out the TV show Strange Addiction. You might like that a little better than Pistons games.

Paul Milsap didn't play against the Heat last night, maybe not tonight. Could be an advantage for Detroit.

With Milsap out, this should be a pistons victory. Atlanta's playing well, but their frontcourt depth is thin even when everyone is healthy. I'm looking for a monster game from Dre tonight.

That would be big. He's always had big games against us.

Who starts at SF for Atlanta?

It all depends on what defense our seemingly out of touch coach has the team playing. We play man to man, we win, and they don't score 50 points from deep.

I am most interested in the battle of the PGs. Specifically, both were free agents we could have targeted this past offseason. We didn't seem very interested at all in Teague (who I, personally preferred), and instead went after Jennings, obviously. Teague has been having a GREAT season so far -- hopefully Jennings is ready for tonight's challenge.

Matchup #2 that scares me is Horford/Milsap vs Monroe/Drummond. Their guys are much more versatile than our guys....could prove to be too tough of a cover for our guys. Am very interested to see how our guys look to contain theirs.

Man, I forgot that we might have been able to nab Jeff Teague. Imagine how nice it would be to have him! I know he's no All-Star yet, but at least during the summer we knew that he was solid at pretty much everything. I hate to say "I was hoping for x move" when it looks good, but I really did like the idea of getting him. What kind of contract did he get? Heck, I don't know if management feels the same way, but a lot of Hawks fans love Schroeder-we might be able to get Teague anyways if Jennings doesn't work out.

Atlanta could have matched any offer for Teague right?

I think that's why Dumars didnt want to tie money up with him RIGHT!?!? lol

It doesnt matter he is putting up very similar numbers to Brandon anyways

16 pts / 7 assists / 3 rebounds / 38% FG for Jennings

18 pts / 9 assists / 2 rebounds / 43% FG for Teague

Not much difference honestly
