Pistons won't trade Stuckey

Per wiretap, but I'd take that with a grain of salt considering Prince was assured last season he wasn't going to be traded.

I believe it, because Stuckey's been our best overall player, and Joe D likes his job.
I'm torn. If a sweet offer is there, I'd take it, but that would be assuming I'm GM and wouldn't be fired.
I'm worried Joe D will invest in Stuck because Rodney is "his guy", and we won't get our money's worth.

Yeah that wouldn't surprise me considering he was Dumars sacred cow, but this could also be playing hard to get considering how hes played.

fools gold, Stuckey is playing great right now, our best guard actually...yeah great so what, sell high at least once Joe D. Stuckey only needed 7 years to put it together, he will cool off at some point, going back to inconsistent Suckey Stuckey.

I'd sell Stuckey. He may have found his groove with the team. His shot selection is golden compared to any other point in his career. However, he lacks size and athleticism to be a serious threat defensively. Detroit could use at least one three & and d guy. That's who I'd be shopping for to say the least.

Lacks size? To guard forwards and centers, I guess. Rodney is freaking HUGE these days. Built like a truck.
He does lack quickness to guard the faster and craftier 1's and 2's, though.

That tells me that he is on the block. When you say that someone is available then they lose about 50% of there value. As long as Dumars says hes not available then he will command more. Of course if your Dumars you have to look at any trade in the following light
1. Is the player worth my 2014 cap space?
2. Is the player going to help me win (keep my job) as much as Stuckey currently is?
The other question is who realy thinks he is there missing piece? Untill the season plays out more teams realy dont know if they are buyers or sellers. As long as a 3 game winning streak gets you from a top lottery pick to home court adv in the 1st rd I just dont see Stuckey offers coming in.

Regardless if we trade him or not, he's gone after this season. I believe he'll head to a stable contender franchise - his whole career here has been turmoil in Detroit - he'll look to sign to a contender with an established coach for the full MLE.
He's valuable to us this season though, he'd been very effective as our 3rd guard/first off the bench. Jennings and KCP as the starters and Stuckey off the bench is a good fit now and going forward.

How exactly do you know what Stuckey will do?

Stuckey will be expensive next year at this rate. It's worth considering selling high on him from a GM perspective. But I like how he gives us flexibility to trade other players. If he continues at his current rate he's going to have the best SG stats in the league and have incredible value (he seems to have earned himself more opportunities with Cheeks for his offensive role, so although he played relatively consistently his stats have been sharply rising)... His averages are very close to Harden in his last year at OKC (yeah, I remember the last time there was a thread here comparing him to Harden Stuckey fell off a cliff and Harden got a max contract and became an all star).
I'm just surprised this value has not been enough to help us get many wins so far (not blaming Stuckey, just our starters mostly).
Besides Stuckey, I think a few of Jennings/Smith/Monroe could be the major pieces of a trade. Those are seriously good trade assets IMO, except for Jennings. If we trade them we can keep Stuckey in his Ginobli or starting role. There are so many trade options. Given the way Stuckey has been playing I'm more excited about the idea of keeping him and moving someone else. But I still hope the team can improve to a second round team without a trade.

If I were to guess I would guess he would like to sign somewhere else given his history here. People hated him right off the bat as soon as Chauncey was traded. And hated him for hugely irrational reasons (for example, calling him selfish, saying he was part of a mutiny based on rumors, insulting his character even at times when he was opting to be the bigger man). He's been thrown under a multitude of buses in his time here. Then Rip and Tayshaun had issues with him being the one the franchise valued the most (and being a starter, in Rip's case). Then we had really terrible coaches and a terrible team, which obviously creates unhappiness.
Having said that, he did resign here after that happened, because we offered him a competitive contract. Of course he was probably looking forward to things improving with Kuester gone, a new owner, some new teammates, etc., and then that didn't happen.
But, if he likes Cheeks, and the team improves (hypothetically in a Indiana-like trajectory), and he has a role in the team improving, I could see him staying. He seems to get along with both Cheeks and the current roster 1000x more. That is, if the money is equal.

I'm fine keeping Stuckey until he starts to show signs of coming back down to earth. This is most likely a ploy to boost his value though.

Good. He's one of our best players. If the right offer comes along however, gotta do what you gotta do.

Would the Suns trade us Dragic for Stuckey?
Would the Bulls trade us Taj Gibson for Stuckey?
I would do both in a second.

6'6 and up is ideal for a SG imo. There are exceptions, but generally they're elite athletes with great wingspan.

ideal yes, an ideal PG would be MCW size, but most arent. Dwayne Wade dominated for the past decade & hes 6'4.
Stuckey is certainly not undersized though.

You're entitled to your opinion. I've already noted what exceptions are fine for short guards. Athleticism. Stuckey is somewhat below average in that regard.

Name the top 5 SG in the league and you'll see how unideal your ideal is.
