If kcp grows more

Post#1 » by The Chuff » Sat Jan 11, 2014 9:07 pm

If kcp pulled a Paul George and grew like 3 inches then he could be a sf. That would be awesome. if only.Wasn't Paul George like 6'6 when he was drafted? Also if drummond did the same, they are both 20 and won't be fully grown into their bodies till around 24-25

It's extremely rare for a guy to come into the league and then grow significantly like Paul George did. I wouldn't get my hopes up.

KCP can already hang with lower/mid tier SFs on the defensive end due to his tenacious play. If his shot gets more automatic he can face off again them offensively too.

Ive been saying he's a prototypical swingman in the nba, and guys on this board want to unload him for pennies on the dollar.

Oh yeah I'm not getting my hopes up for it. However it does happen, I'm 22 and hitting another growth spurt. Being 6'7 or 6'8 would do wonders for him. That said it probably won't happen though I hope it does

I just checked Draftexpress and Paul George's measurements upon coming into the league were 6'7.75" without shoes, 6'8.75" with shoes.

Paul george was 6'7 or so when entering the league, he only grew about 1.5 inches. Even this is not that normal. Most men are done growing by 17 or 18. Im not saying it wont happen, just dont count on it. He already can check a lot of SF's

There are studies on growth spurts after the age of 18... it's less than 10%.
I believe Rodman grew 8" between the age of 18-20

I doubt he grows more, but there's been great SFs at only 6-5/6-6 like Dantley, Aguirre, Pierce. Its worked here in the past.

I think if they can't find a SF, but have a chance to get a great SG, moving KCP to SF could be an option

It could work, but he would have to put some more muscle on, and general strength conditioning to deal with larger opponents regularly.

Id rather him be a SG unless he grows two inches. He doesn't have the mistletoe strength to guard SF like Spree did.

we've got something special in KCP. prototype sg with an Afflalo ceiling. but I think he can reach Afflalo's level sooner than Afflalo, he can be better.

22, 4 and 4, while shooting 47% from the field and being an elite defender? yeah that will totally happen

i dont like our chances of kcp growing, but i think he can handle minutes at sf anyway. he'll get a lot stronger over time too and that'll help.
Stuckey has played sf occasionally, so kcp could too.

If he became our SF then we wouldn't have a SG xD

You can see that he has been growing pretty steadily these last couple weeks. He is doing things that I thought he wasant capable of or needed more time in the nba.I think he will be solid by the end of the year, but next year I think he will really shine.

I'm a huge fan of Afflalo but his numbers on that Orlando squad don't mean much IMO.

His shooting percentage is impressive since he's facing all kinds of defensive attention he wouldn't face if he was on a "real" team that was winning plenty of games... the other stats he's putting up a by-product of the Magic being so terrible and having so few consistent options.

And not to rag on Joe Dumars in the wrong thread but: We gave up A Double for a 2nd round pick because we wanting a couple of extra million to pay Chris Wilcox... despite the fact we went into that off-season with $18 mil in cap space! FFS!

Just to be clear, Paul George was measured at 6'7" 3/4 without shoes and 6'8" 3/4 with shoes (along with a 6'11" 1/4 wingspan), at the NBA Pre-Draft Camp in 2010. He's now listed at 6'10" with shoes, so he hasn't really grown that much. Not like Dennis Rodman, who grew 6-7 inches at the age of 21 :o

Still, pretty rare for anyone to grow any taller beyond the age of 20, so I wouldn't get my hopes up too much.

For the recond, KCP measured at 6'4" 1/2 without shoes, 6'5" 1/2 with shoes and 6'8" wingspan at the 2013 NBA Pre-Draft Camp, and Drummond measured at 6'9" 3/4 - 6'11" 3/4 - 7'6" 1/4 in 2012.
It's such a fine line between stupid and clever.

I think KCP could be better than Afflalo, and much earlier in his career. I'd like us to trade for afflalo though so we could use him as the starting 2 backup 3, KCP backing up 2.
