Is Monroe a PF or C

As someone who doesn't watch a lot of pistons games, I don't really have a grasp of what position Monroe plays.
I understand he's a promising big, thats great on the glass and boards. But honestly I can't count the number of times I see him considered a center by one group just to turn around and see another group adamantly arguing that he's a PF.

He's a Center offensively, but he's not a shot-blocker to where you want him as your defensive anchor at that position.
He's not a PF at either end though because he can't shoot and can't defend jumpshooters.
So he's probably a Center in my opinion

Wait, so Bill Laimbeer was a PF?

The biggest knock on Monroe his 1st 2 yrs was that he was a PF playing C and now hes a C playing PF.
The more I read his board he more I think that its a test board for bi polar Pistons fans.
The simple fact is that the diferance between PF and C varies from team to team and coach to coach. Just as SF and SG are pretty much the same and that 1950-70s the pf was just another sf.

Both...he can play either
Gun to my head, I'd say 55% C and 45% PF

He's a borderline All-star C and a above average PF.

He can play both positions.
I do remember that everyone couldn't wait for us to draft a center in Dre's draft because then we could finally move Moose to his natural position of PF. Everyone suddenly decided that he was a C as soon as Drummond looked amazing for some reason, and I'm not sure why. Once he cleans up his rotations on defense he'll be a fine PF.

gregory is nice at PF but better, perhaps much better, at Center
especially considering his jump shot has fallen off this year
if we sign him for the max we wont ever get his full potential because he will be playing the wrong position half the time
he lacks the athleticism to defend 4s and cant as easily blow by them with his face up move. he is developing his post moves to counter that but still finds himself unable to finish quite a few times because he gets caught up once they dont bite on the pump fake. sometimes you just have to go straight up and just beat them physically, dont always have to finesse.
anyway in short, he's a center thats still pretty good at PF

We were hoping that he would find his mid-range shot and if he did he would be a good pf,but once he was there it was clear it wasant going to happen and that hes better off at c.It really intensified when we drafted dre and relized we cant have a pf who isnt good at defense, isnt athletic, and cant spread the floor. He is better off under the basket at c with his foot work, rebounding and guarding other c.
EDIT:The reason monroe is so efficent is because his foot work allows him to get to the basket for a layup,or for a 3-4 ft hook, with dre having to work in the paint as well it makes it harder for the both of them because the paint is so packed.Since dre is our c of the future and because him and smith play better together, it makes since for monroe to come off the bench where he can focus on c and improve our bench.

He is the perfect sixth man. He needs to come off the bench.

Haven't we already disproven this?

We haven't exactly given him a ton of time to develop a J, considering he's only had one offseason to really work on that, in addition to all the other new responsibilities he has as a PF, nor have we seen him take a lot of jumpers, since that's JSMoove's domain. Let's give him another year to see if he can't get a decent jump shot.

It isnt all smiths fault, there are alot of times moose gets the ball and then relizes he cant drive so he passes the ball back out. This is also his 4th season and he hasant shown anything that would show me he is ever going to develope a jumper.
