THE SUPERFINAL TRADE

Post#1 » by paQo the BAWSER » Tue Jan 14, 2014 3:22 pm

Detroit Pistons: Demar Derozan, Kyle Lowry, Steve Novak
Toronto Raptors: Josh Smith, Brandon Jennings.

Why? Because Toronto could tank without problems with this movement

I don't see Toronto wanting any part of this, maybe if they were still playing like crap, but they've been tearing it up lately.

I bet Jennings would do a good job for Toronto. Ross could pick it up a little. Amir would probably go to the bench for a nice 3-big rotation like we should have. Smoove could do better than here as a pf.

It might help Detroit. *shrug*

Well, you're right about one thing — this trade idea is definitely a "movement."

First off, Toronto doesn't seem to be tanking at all anymore.

Secondly, you never posted reasons for the Pistons … probably because there are none. Lowry's about to require a big raise, so making the deal would put us on really thin ice at PG; I could see us having to choose between extending Monroe or Lowry, whereas Jennings is locked to a very reasonable deal for another two years. Plus, DeRozan is a SG, so we're basically throwing KCP under the bus and actually making our SF situation worse.

Most importantly, this is such obviously trolling that I imagine you're currently sitting atop a pencil. Brand new account, second post ever, suggests trading Smith & Jennings for the rationale that the receiving team is looking to tank? The hate those two receive on these boards really does reach staggering levels sometimes.

Toronto isn't trading their decent players for our failed projects.

Toronto might reject this trade even if you put in drummond instead of greg

Toronto has decided not to tank, from what I've read. Lowry is off the trading block and they're going to enjoy the revenue of hosting a playoff series (or two) in the spring.

Two issues here:

1) As others have said, the Raptors are not tanking.

2) A "tank" move doesn't really make sense if it doesn't make you younger or save any money. This deal does neither of those things for them, it just makes them worse while at the same time increasing their financial implications.

This sort of move is a move Ujiri would make if he wanted his fall from grace in Toronto to be faster and more dramatic than Colangelo's.

i'm not a troll, i'm a hopeless spain fan of Pistons who is so disappointed with the team, but too much with the GM and the coach, sorry for my english if is not very well at all but i'm trying to post here with regularity.

in the trade cuestion, y'all are right, derozan is a sg, but i love very much the way of lowry play the PG, he's shooting awesome for three, and he play defense very well.

i like so much smith, not jennings, because of his defense and his ball hogging (he's so good in assist, but he need the ball AAAAAALLL the posesion, and he don't pass to the post all he could).

i prefer smith over monroe, but the age and the chemistry with monroe are better factors.

greetings everyone and is an honor to be part of the Pistons' fans.

I would love this trade, but there is no way in hell Toronto does this.
Derozen has been great this season and Lowry has been solid too. We can't say the same for either Jennings or Smith.

I'm sorry I unfairly accused you of being a troll, paQo; welcome to the board!

Obviously, you're not alone in your opinions on Smith and Jennings (as evidenced by all the people who think TOR would be the team hanging up the phone here). But I'm gonna respectfully stick to my guns — this trade doesn't make sense for the Pistons, either. Even if they're equivalent on the court (and that's a player comp for another thread), Jennings' contract >>>>> then Lowry's as an impending UFA. That's my biggest issue with your trade idea, on top of the DeRozan / KCP redundancy it would create without really helping our SF situation.

this summer we got so much space in the cap salary, i prefer lowry for 10-12M that jennings for 8, and i think if smith has got a 14 M contract, i prefer give that money to monroe.

i think we need to have a system, and with this coach probably never will happen this, and i think we need to pass to the post in every play, not only in the 1st quarter, with monroe like 1st option and drummond developing his post moves

No thank you to Lowry. I'm really happy with Brandon Jennings. I don't understand the need for trading our PG. I think he's been fantastic. I think Cheeks has done WONDERS for Jennings and I do believe Brandon has turned the corner this season. I DO believe we will see his value which is clear value this whole season in the postseason. The fans are just not appreciating him much. I like Brandon Jennings and I believe Dumars does as well. Only two starting players I would trade is Josh Smith or Greg Monroe. Jennings is good for now. I'm content.

That would suggest that Dumars would be willing to let go of this team which I don't believe he is. I don't think we're going to tank. I think we're going to use Monroe to trade for an All-Star caliber SG or SF either by the trade deadline or the FA.

There's a LIKELY chance that Dumars will say that he did not find a trade that's worth it. I DO believe this month will determine whether we make a trade or not. I think we're going to turn the corner. If not, then a trade should happen soon. We'll see what happens.

Jennings and Smith to Raptors for Lowry, Amir Johnson and Novak

Stuckey and Bynum to Wizards for Ariza and Eric Maynor

Lowry-KCP-Ariza-Monroe-Drummond
Maynor-Singler-Datome/Novak-Johnson-Harrellson

Opinions? i think with this trade we'll be 3º seed and would have positive record

That's not bad. But Jennings and Smith have much bigger potential for our team. It would be a bigger impact if we just change our coach.
