This team reminds me of the 2011/12 Warriors

That team had talent- Steph Curry, David Lee, Andrew Bogut and promising rookie Klay Thompson. They had a coach preaching defense in Mark Jackson- but the team just wasn't quite there. They were on track to just miss the playoffs, but they tanked to the 7th pick to keep their draft pick and get Harrison Barnes.
Next season, team clicks and makes a fun playoff run. This season, the team added another valuable piece in Igoudala and look like potential title contenders.
2014 Pistons are 2012 Warriors to me. There's talented pieces here, but a few more additions (or subtractions) need to be made and more time for the team to click, namely Jennings working more on his passing and Drummond figuring out how to play solid defense...or average defense. Whatever.

Cant say I see the comparison.
Our coach has no clue. He doesn't preach anything, at least mark jackson sounds somewhat motivational.
Curry is a knockdown shooter who was injured early on, the knockdown shooter who Jennings will never become.
I will agree with the Klay Thompson to KCP comparison (I assume this is what was meant) because i can see KCP becoming a player of Klays' caliber.
I guess if we make a trade midseason like they did (andrew bogut) for a solid young swingman the comparison may be somewhat valid.
That team had young talent but in the backcourt, we have it in the front-court. Different beast to maximize nonetheless
If anything we are like the 2011-2012 pacers team because our defensive potential and youth.

bogut didn't actually play, iirc, he was acquired at the deadline for monta ellis.

The main differences with the two teams in my eyes are the coaches and the fit.
The warriors and the pistons had/have talent, but the warriors have much better balance.
Even before getting Iggy they had Curry / Thompson / Barnes / Lee / Bogut. That's such a well balanced young line up. We don't have that. We also have guys with questionable attitudes (jennings nad smith), the warriors didn't have that problem.
Jackson and Cheeks are worlds apart as coaches.

They tanked because steph was injured most of the season, Bogut was traded to them mid-season and played zero games, and they sat Lee out near the end of the season for no apparent reason.
Is dumars willing to sit Monroe or somebody to get a higher pick this season? probably not..
You guys need a star..don't see one on there yet.

I don't see you winning any championships with Lee/Bogut, as I don't see Curry being anywhere near LeBron/ Jordan level to where he can lead a team to a title without a dominant big man.

everyone seems to think that this current roster is as good as its going to get. we have 5 very good starting caliber players, who havent quite clicked properly yet, and then 17 MILLION!!!! paid to stuckey and villanueva on the bench, which is all expiring this year. sure, a lot of that will go towards paying monroe/drummond, but with that money paid to those two players used more efficiently, we can add another serious piece off the bench and have a very solid 6 or 7 players.
the biggest thing with the warriors though, is that they have built some insanely good team chemistry. everything you see of them is so much better than probably any other team in the league. detroit simply hasnt found that yet, but if they somehow do start to like eachother more, i feel like they can fit perfectly together.
theres a good chance that never happens, but i think if we go back to a 2004 style where no one player is the dominant star, and everyone becomes elite at their own role, we have the pieces to be very good. if this team someone can center itself around defense, which has obviously been awful so far, and smith and jennings allow monroe/drummond/kcp to be just as important as them, thats when there might be some success. we then add another wing off the bench to be more effective in singlers role (playing the 3 so smith moves to PF), and the team instantly becomes more balanced, with the ability to play both massive, and conventional.

I don't see you winning any championships with Lee/Bogut, as I don't see Curry being anywhere near LeBron/ Jordan level to where he can lead a team to a title without a dominant big man.
Miami's frontcourt isn't exactly dominant and they've won a couple of rings.
If Curry is healthy, GSW are legit contenders.
Bogut has had some freak accidents which limited him in recent years, but he was right up there with the best centers in the league. Arguably the second best behind Howard before the freak elbow injury.
the balance GS has allows them to be contenders even if Curry doesn't get to lebrons level.

Dont get the comparison at all. That team had the right fits everywhere, great coaching, just lacked chemistry & reps.
This team is nothing like that.

I don't see it. I guess I'm in the minority on here, but I don't believe this Pistons team has much talent beyond Drummond. Pope may be a nice player...down the road. Monroe terribly overrated. Jennings, nope. Smith is flawed and not a 3. The bench, beyond Singler, is terribly underwhelming.
Don't see it at all.
