small move
I would just give bynum away for any pick we could get this summer , promote siva, sign Peitrius; go with a 8 man rotation of Jennings, Stuckey, KCP, Singler, Petrius, Drummond, Monroe, and Smith. It's not really better but we get something extra this summer, we balance the roster with another defensive player who has had 3pt shooting abillity in the past. If we dont make the playoffs then we probably will be close or close enough our couch can effect if we finish in the top eight teams or not. Right now we'd be in the top eight picks. At this point I'm cool with dropping down lower if we can develop Siva, Mitchell, and KCP. Get the pick, and spend one more Summer retooling with a pick. Sign Battier. Maybe go after Rondo, or Carmelo. I think if we had a better three, Cheeks would be forced to run Smith, Monroe, and Drummond only at PF/C. These moves would tilt the rotation in a more ideal direction, while not selling a top asset, and putting us in a position to maybe retain our pick.

Re: small move
They might be able to move Bynum for bottom 5 first round pick, or a second round pick. That's probably a best-case scenario for a team looking for a veteran PG who can give a scoring spark off the bench.
Petrius is done. No value there.

Petrius is not someone I have any interest in. I agree with needing to develop Mitchell, KCP and Siva. I am not big on signing Battier, though I do like him as a player. Negative on the Melo...We like team ball in Detroit. He thrives more in "individualism" ball.

Lebron
Kobe
Gasol
Melo
Randle

Plus that is where he is from. He's a big deal in some parts of Chicago, where he donates a lot of time to the less fortunate.
