does anybody else really like josh harrellson?
i might be in the minority here, but i'd really like to see this guy get consistent playing time. every time he sees the court, he makes an impact in one way or another. he uses his size well to not give up position, he's a solid rebounder, he's a very smart team defender, and he can spread the court with his surprisingly adept shooting touch, something that should automatically warrant some playing time with this team.
if we're able to unclog the frontcourt a bit, i'd love to see jorts get a chance to prove his value as a rotational big.

I have yet to see a poster here who -dislikes- Harrelson. He's a smart basketball player for sure. Always seems to be productive when he comes into the game.

He's Brian Cardinal 2.0
He plays hard and hustles which is why he's fun to root for but he is limited by his physical ability. He'll never be a starter on a contending team but he's a nice energy player to fill in spot minutes off the bench.
I think the reason he shines when he comes in is specifically because he's only used sporadically. I think if you left him in longer he would tire and his lack of athletic ability may be exposed.
But to be honest I don't think he's ever had the chance to prove me wrong so who knows?

I was mad when "Butt" Cheeks benched him for CV. He's a good backup big that needs to have playing time.

Nailed it on the head. Always plays hard, limited physically, but can shoot. Good guy to have on the bench, especially at his contract's price.

Re: does anybody else really like josh harrellson?
I love him,he might not be the most athletic but he gets up higher than moose for rebounds etc.I think his role is off the bench with consistent minutes at pf next to monroe, even tho I dont want to keep monroe I have no problem saying he has some good skill sets and jorts and moose of the bench would make this team sooooo much better.Moose can stay under the rim and gobble up rebounds or put backs and jorts can roam around the perimiter and play solid defense.

I like him better than Josh Smith.
Of course, I like a lawn chair more than Josh Smith.

Why wouldn't you? Lawn chairs generally don't ruin your favorite NBA franchises. Also, they are nice to sit in during a nice Spring/Summer day and watch the day go by while you drink a beer.
Lawn chairs are flippin' awesome. I'd say my current Pistons hierarchy is Drummond > Monroe > KCP > Singler > Lawn Chairs > the rest > Josh Smiff.

Re: does anybody else really like josh harrellson?
"Really Like" is probably too strong a phrase for harrellson. He's been a decent regular season backup big. He doesn't make a lot of mistakes, plays with good energy, and can knock down jumpers. He definitely should be playing over guys like CV.
Of course, he is quite limited athletically. If we ever get back to playoff contention, he's not someone I would want to see getting substantial minutes in a playoff series. Once everyone picks their intensity up to his level (or above) the great athletes quickly rise to the top.

But of course, a lawn chair would let you sit on it.

To clarify, I probably like a lawn chair as a basketball player as much or more than Josh Smith.
At least it wouldn't take shots, and if properly positioned an offensive player could trip over it from time to time.

I feel like when Josh Smith does a "dribble around the chairs" drill, he somehow turns it over more than anyone realistically should.

I think this is also true for the "dribble from one end of the court to the other with nobody in front of you" drill.

Re: does anybody else really like josh harrellson?
I like him a lot. I see a lot of people saying "unathletic" but I fail to see how that's a problem. Some great, great players cant jump out of the gym.
I think he should start next to Drummond.
He is that good, and does exactly what we need from him, and given enough playtime, I think he can become really damn good.
I am done with Monroe, who plays terrible defense, and cant hit a shot outside of 5feet. I honestly cant figure out how with his hard nosed defense, teamplay, and excellent shooting, Jorts doesn't get a shot at it, seeing as how the team is a trainwreck without an identity.
I could care less who's contract year it is, when you have a player showing hes capapble, you go for it.
Smith should come off the bench as the first sub.
