Pistons will play Miami or Indiana

Post#1 » by DCintheD » Sun Feb 9, 2014 9:56 pm

in the 2nd rd of the 2014 playoffs!!!

Cheeks' firing is the first step towards getting that 5th or 6th seed this roster is capable of. He was the main problem.

Sure this roster's got its misfits but the talent we have is coachable enough to get much better results. Cheeks was the wrong man for the job for many reasons.

We still need a trade to bring in some shooting and balance things out but this coaching change is huge..

doubters and haters and losers who wanna tank will be eating sh^t come April/May

I'm really interested in getting in on the atlassian ipo and shorting it early. Can you tell me how it's doing as of April 2014?

Thanks!

Pipe dream. This team, as it is, sucks. Firing Cheeks isn't changing that.

I agree that this is a realistic possibility but it could have been said a little more maturely.

I think it would be amazing to play either Miami or Indiana in the first round. it would show what it takes to be a real playoff team, something that could be very valuable to Drummond and Monroe. Jennings and smith had their chances, I don't think they get it.

We'd probably have to finish 22 and 10 over our last 32 to move up into the 5th or 6th seed.

As long as the Pistons make the playoffs, that is an accomplishment for me.

Making the playoffs, and winning a series are certainly within reason.

Detroit currently sits tied for 8th, and is only 5 games out of 3rd. The East is terrible. None of Toronto, Atlanta, Washington, Rose-less Chicago, or Charlotte are scary teams. I wouldn't even consider any of them solid teams. Brooklyn is the only team that I can envision eventually solidifying themselves as a legit top 3 east team. Of the teams currently behind Detroit, only New York seems good enough to possibly pass the Pistons up.

With its collection of talent, Its possible Detroit could catapult all the up into that third spot. But really, they only need to get into 6th to to have a good shot at winning a series. If they don't end up 7th or 8th, I would go as far as to say that with the exception of Brooklyn, Detroit would probably be favored in any other first round matchup. They just have too much talent in comparison to the teams they are competing with.

Wed 12 vs Cleveland
Tue 18 vs Charlotte
Wed 19 @ Charlotte
Fri 21 vs Atlanta
Sat 22 vs Dallas
Mon 24 vs Golden State
Wed 26 @ San Antonio
Sat 1 @ Houston
Mon 3 vs New York
Wed 5 vs Chicago
Fri 7 @ Minnesota
Sun 9 @ Boston
Tue 11 vs Sacramento
Wed 12 @ Toronto

All they have to do is win their next 7 Eastern Conference games... and most likely they'll be facing Toronto on March 12 to play a game with some meaning.

They are just a few games away from 4th in the Eastern Conference, and ATL (4th) has lost 3 in a row...
You need 2-way wings, 2-way shooting bigs, and you can't allow low iq players on the court. Assist/turnover ratio is crucial. Shooting point guards are icing on the cake IF they are plus defenders.
Weaver & Casey, govern yourselves accordingly!

And if they steal ANY of the 6 western conference games they might be in play for 3rd in the East.
