Based on the latest rumors I've been able to find, this deal would work for everyone.

Houston sends Asik to Boston and Brewer to Detroit

Boston send Green to Detroit

Detroit sends Smith to Houston

Houston gets the forward they want to line up next to Dwight, Boston get's a real center who they've been linked to before, Detroit gets garbage back (fine by me)

Jennings - Bynum - Billups
Singler - Stuckey - Brewer
Green - KCP - Datome
Monroe - Jerebko
Drummond - Harrellson

Hey at least we get an SF. Works for me.

Doubt this would ever happen but Jeff Green is definitely not garbage, thats ridiculous.

That might work financially but we get robbed there. Smith is a bigger talent than Green and Asik isn't that good. Everyone knows Smith is playing out of position, but still 16pt, 7rebs, 4ast, and 1.5blks resembles a good player. A 4th team might have to get involved to make it work.

The whole point is to get robbed. Smith has proven he can't play the 3 here, and that means either moving him or Monroe. Green's deal is much easier to handle then Smith's AND the Pistons lose out on their 1st rd. pick if they don't finished in the bottom 8. There is too much talent in the draft this year to give up a pick because we're not getting value back for J-Smoove.

How do we get robbed? Smith doesn't fit at the 3, and Monroe plays smarter and more within himself than Smith does. I used to be on the Smith at the 4 bandwagon, but I have long since jumped off. I'd much rather build around Monroe/Drummond, especially with Smith's age (I've already seen articles saying it looks like he's losing some of his elite athleticism). Green is a very solid 3&D SF who would stretch the floor very well and allow Monroe/Drummond to be our main core going forward. And Green only has 2 years on his contract (excluding this one) so It would be a win-win for us.

16 & 5 including 37% from 3 whos actually a SF resembles a better player for us.

That sounds like tanking.

@Clarity and @Natopher: I like Green and I'll think he'll be a good pick-up for this team. But Smith is putting up better numbers and he's playing out of position. We need a pick(which I doubt) or another talent coming our way.

Green is a stud, a true SF & as others have said, he fits around the foundation (Monroe & Drum).

Josh was this same player in Atlanta at PF for 9 years (much much much better defender in Atl though), you need to accept that my friend. Josh is what he is.

I am with you on trying to get as much as we could for Josh but judging by no one wanting him last Summer & the season we have had & he has had, we would be lucky to get a Jeff Green for him.

I don't know how I feel about helping Miami get their 3 peat even if it is almost likely regardless of the trade.

I don't think they do it. They thrive on the fact that they have shooting role players that can make big plays for them.

But Haslem hasnt played much for them, Battier has really been terrible this season, Mason Jr and Jones play 13-14 minute garbage time, and Beasley would come back to Miami.

Heat can only dream to add someone of Smith's talent level to this team and when Wade/Allen are not producing they have another person to slide in and score even if it is from the 4.

I don't know what's more annoying... People wanting Bill Laimbeer as coach or another 'Trade Josh Smith' thread.

We're not trading Smith. Not now at least. Get over it.

Even though I like Josh Smith as a PF and as a player, but at this rate I would do Smith for Asik and Lin straight up. He is just not a good fit with the twin towers.

The Rockets get the best of the deal with both Detroit and Boston kicking in value. If the
Celtics were interested in Asik for Green, the deal would already be done, as Green is best when used as a stretch 4. He's back at the 3 because the Celtics have a log jam at PF.

For the Pistons, it's close to a wash. Smith is more talented but cannot play the 3 and has that contract. Green actually can play the 3.

For this to work, Houston needs to send out more value than Asik.
