This is the man who has been charged with the task of leading this ragtag group to the promise land. Yet, he remains shrouded, sheathed, and showered in mystery. Have we stumbled upon the Red Auerbach of this generation, or the John Kuester? Well, Kuester never had a nickname as awesome as Destroyer, so there you go.

What we know:

He is a learned man. Loyer was a student of Akron's elite Social Studies program. He is thought to have memorized upwards of 50 world capitals.

He is a wild man. He was involved in the excess of the Bob Huggins Cincinnati years. He was suspended and fired, with 22 charges levied against him. 19 of those were later overturned, no doubt through nefarious means.

He is a world class coach. He held the reigns of the storied Wabash Valley College Warriors basketball team. A team that has turned out such talents as Tony Allen and DaJuan Wiley.

What else is John Loyer?

Please share your experiences of John Loyer: The Man, The Myth, The Legend in this thread.

I was pushing for "Loyer Up", I guess it didn't take.

In all reality though, they beat a Spurs team where Leonard, Ginobili and Splitter didn't play at all and Parker and Duncan both played under 30 minutes. The Spurs punted this game, bottom line.

They are not mutually exclusive nicknames. One is a noun, the other an action.

Loyer up! ...with LOYER THE DESTROYER!!!

Am I underselling the win, or are you overselling the team?

Any win is a good win , I've been flipflopping the last few weeks, but now I'm solidly behind the Playoff push. There's no way we can be bottom eight, especailly when we beat Cleveland tommorow, we'll have won 6 of our last 8.Loyer looked very animated and professional last night ,long live the destroyer.

It's going to be a 3-way race between Detroit, NY and Charlotte for that 8th seed. I don't think a bottom 8 pick is likely either. I think it's either sneaking into the playoffs and getting swept by the Pacers. Or, finishing 9th or 10th and surrendering a late lottery pick to Charlotte (unless the improbable happens and we jump into the top 3 picks).

Charlotte is apparently a buyer, and is willing to give up Ben Gordon's expiring deal, Biyombo and possibly a draft pick to get an upgrade. NY looks like they're on the verge of a melt down, but who knows?
