Simmons and Rose on Josh Smith Trade

If you watch Bill Simmons and Jalen Rose's last podcast, Simmons implies that Boston would give us Jeff Green and Bogans Expiring for Smith
The Celtics, or at least their fans/insiders seem to think it's a good idea, so why hasn't it happened yet?

Simmons is a huge boston fan/homer,if simmons is for this trade then it should be pretty obvious, and green sucks.

There is that Rondo connection for Smith in Boston. Ainge might be willing to gamble on the fit...and honestly Rondo and Smith would be a good fit especially in the open court.
Green had a decent shooting year last season. With the way Detroit could potentially play inside out, it's not a terrible idea for either team if Detroit is intent on keeping Monroe (which I'm still not a fan of).

Trade Checker shows Bogans has two years remaining on his contract.
Green would be much more moveable an asset going forward at a third less pay and one less year BUT he's not much better a fit here, so I'd rather find a third team to take Green now and land us a true SF.

Green tore it up in the playoffs last year, averaged 20.3ppg on 14.2 shots and 45.5% from 3 in 6 games, I also like the 7.5FTA per game.

Its possible that Rondo is telling Ainge that he wants another big name player. And with his best buddy being quite available according to rumors he could be pushing for it. Boston also had interest in Smith before as well. I just don't know if Ainge wants to jeopardize his tanking ways right now.

How is Green not a true SF?

I believe that Bogans' last 2 years aren't guaranteed, so we can just cut him for no cap hit.

Wow, Simmons said this? Really? I guess Green really isn't a part of the Celtics' future, like at all.
Huh.

It's up to Gores now to make a move and all i gotta say is he better get rid of Smith ASAP.
This is what we have been asking for all year.
FOR GOD SAKES GORES MAKE THE MOVE.
Reunite Rondo and Smith and let us move on with our rebuild properly.
Even if we run Jennings - KCP - Green - Monroe - Drummond and find out Monroe is not working out we can move him next year at the deadline.
If, however, Gores is stupid enough to leave this in the hands of Dumars this deal will never happen. Dumars is not going to admit his stupidity not when his job is on the line.
Check this trade article written by Lowe for Grantland it's pretty informative:

we should ask, and then get this done.
doubt they'd like it but if we have a chance, go for it.

Even if Green isn't very good its frankly hard to imagine him having a worse impact at the 3 than Smith.

I'd rather keep Smith than trade for Green. Green is nowhere near the all around player Smith is.

It hasn't happened yet because we would need more than Jeff Green coming to the Pistons. I think me, Clarity, and another poster had this discussion a couple of days ago. Smith is a bigger talent than Green, so we would need a 3rd or probably a 4th team to get involved to get fair value in return. I think Green is a little overrated on these forums, but I think he'll be a nice fit next to Monroe/Drummond.

Gah...can you change the title?
For a second I thought this happened. Kind of misleading.

Smith is more talented for sure but Green is clearly better at SF. One of Monroe or Smith needs traded and if were as hell bent on keeping Monroe as it sounds then you take this deal and run.
