Face it this team is garbage. They're slow, can't shoot and don't rebound in clutch time. If they were to make the playoffs they would get swept because they would face defenses similar to what the Cavs did tonight and lay off shooters and pack in the inside. Better to lose and keep the 8th pick with possibly also getting Hollins

There's no point in rooting for the tank. We're not dropping in the bottom 8. All we would do is give the Bobcats a better pick. Might as well make the playoffs and make sure the pick is no lower than 15 and just get it over with.

Like already stated- this team isn't going to hit the bottom 8 without a concerted effort to get there.
Additionally, no reason to start another tank-centric thread.

Bump. This team is soft, slow, and has no scorers. Losing is better than winning. With Cleveland heating up they will hopefully pass us and Charlotte is cementing their record as better

We're gonna send a 9-11 pick to Charlotte.

Most likely which is why this team needs to lose ALOT and hire Hollins in the offseason

Our schedule gets really rough. If we lose tomorrow to the Cats again then we might just finish at the 8th spot. And Cleveland is now one win behind us on a 5 game win streak.

Do we get a new 'tank thread' every week now!?!
I love how the one single win Loyer got over the Spurs made everyone a believer that the Pistons had turned it around, and even convinced themselves that the Cleveland melt down was somehow an aberration.
This team still stinks, one win over a Spurs team that seemed disinterested shouldn't count for anything. I know people on here said I wasn't giving that win enough credit. I think I stand correct in my assertion today.

I just feel bad for Loyer, since he's likely not going to implement his system of choosing in the middle of the season out of fear of chemistry issues so he probably stuck with Cheek's antiquated system that's not working. It's why we're still helping 1 pass away to the ball penetration leaving a wide 3 open. He's only experimented with rotations so far while tightening up some parts of the defense. Obviously it's still not enough. Not to mention having a terrible personnel to work with.

You make some strong points. He's working with an exceptionally low BBIQ team. Trying to change the team's schemes mid-season isn't going to fly, and would likely make things worse at this point. Sadly, he's probably still working with the impetus to make the post season as well.
Will Joe fire two head coaches in one season???

Ahaha, Joe/Gores isn't stupid enough to do that, although they have been surprising me sometimes.
Yeah, I just feel like Loyer would be a good coach to have as a rebuild/tanking team. Too bad it never panned out since we got Smennings this summer.

but maybe that's best, because I'm not convinced they won't have to send them a 2-6 pick next year if they somehow kept it this year.

No new tank threads I'm just gonna bump this one every now and then.

So I'm back to wondering if I should root for the playoffs or the tank again. Rather than bump my Tank Tracker thread, I'll just give everyone the update - we are now tied for 8th (Final rank, Current and Predicted Wins):
13. Brooklyn (24) WINS (32)
12. Charlotte (24) WINS (30)
11. Cleveland (21) WINS (29)
10. New Orleans (23) WINS (28)
8. Detroit (22) WINS (27)
8. Utah (19) WINS (27)
6. New York (20) WINS (25)
6. LA Lakers (18) WINS (25)
3. Philadelphia (15) WINS (24)
3. Boston (19) WINS (24)
3. Sacramento (18) WINS (24)
2. Orlando (16) WINS (22)
1. Milwaukee (10) WINS (10)

these are not realistic win projections... if we only get 5 more wins the rest of the season we should finish much higher than 8... also, how does Milwaukee not win another game at all? i think we'll get to 30 wins total atleast

If you look at my Tank Tracker thread, there were a few assumptions - 1) Milwaukee isn't predicted to beat anyone 2) the other teams in this list lose all their games unless they are home against one of the other teams in this list
Obviously, there are going to be some other wins, but they will be upsets, and which ones do you choose? So without going into some crazy simulation and advanced statistics, this is a pretty simple model and it actual works pretty good for relative rankings. And when there is an upset, it shows up immediately in the updated standings.
So if we get 5 more wins, who is going to pass us? Actually, just Cleveland. We are so far ahead of teams like Utah that it will be hard for them to pass us.
