Would be awkward to fire Dumars right before the reunion.

How many times are they going to do this though? At this point every ten years should be enough.

Why not have a 2004 reunion? Hell, they can sign 2 of the starting 5 as free agents as well if they want.
The thought that Joe set this up just to remind people that he did something great once is creeping into the back of my mind.

If they hired Zeke to work in the front office, I'm done.

Maybe this is why Gores kept Dumars through the end of the season. Milk him and Bad Boys for a home gate before firing him and thus cutting ties to that era if there is bad feelings on Joe's way out.

Will Dumars even show for this? He's not been seen or heard from at all. Now that he's essentially been removed of his powers, will he want to?

This is weird for them to do this now, knowing Joe has to be there and will likely get a chorus of boo's, and then be fired a month later. Its almost cruel in a sense lol.
Its also going to be really awkward for Gores to have to give some great speech about him and then tell him you're fired after the season. I'm surprised they want to go through with it.
Its going to be like the Rodman ceremony where everyone went just to boo Karen, but will boo Joe instead.

97.1 specifically gator and karsch thought that not many will boo dumars.

I bet the reason Joe's dismissal hasn't been made public yet is because of this reunion. While its going to be awkward to have this and then announce his dismissal a month later, it would be even worse to announce it now and then have to bring him back next month for the reunion.
That's probably the reasoning behind all this. Its Gores' best chance at selling out the Palace this year with Miami in town as well, and he doesn't want any issues to prevent the show from going on. Much easier to just stay silent and wait until afterwards.
Its probably going to be more like a Dumars retirement party than reunion.
