In keeping with the New York media rumors...
Free agent Metta World Peace, according to his brother, has some interest in joining the Pistons, despite being negatively linked with the franchise over the infamous brawl. The Knicks face the Pistons on Monday.
He also tweeted something a few days ago about liking the Pistons, so this could actually be true.
Why the Pistons would have any need for him...I have no idea, but its good for a laugh

Never been more happy to have a full 15-man roster already....

Maybe he wants to pay his dues. This team needs toughness anyway.

He wanted to come here last time he was a FA as well. He's quite the nut but we should sign him just for the hell of it lol.

The shot selection between Smith, Jennings, and World Peace would be catastrophic to say the least.

Bring him in. He'll help us tank. I'd love it if he came in. I remember an interview with him saying Detroit is definitely a team he wants to play for but he has a bad history in it. In my opinion, bring him in! But Dumars most likely would never allow it. I can't wait until Dumars is gone. Even if Thomas is his replacement. Please Dumars, GET OUT!!

I thought prime Artest was a perfect fit for this team. Now I'm not even sure what his skillset *is* anymore. Can he still defend?

Might as well, maybe he can take the few remaining shots Monroe & Drummond get away from them to fully ensure this thing completely collapses.

This in a way, perfectly describes the Piston's scenario when it comes to FAs and who wants to play here.
Literally nobody relevant. So I really hope that this stops the arguments for bringing Rondo/Melo/CP3/Bosh. Nobody actually great will come here, if ever.

I wouldn't be opposed to giving him a shot if not for the brawl. Not because I care about the brawl, but I will never stop hearing dumb stories about it if he's here. Didn't watch Artest at all when he was with NYK or throughout the season in LA, but in some of LA's national TV games he looked like a strong defender still.

That was last year. I saw a few games in NY and he looks finished to me. Honestly though, he's probably still a better perimeter defender than what we currently have on this team, but not enough better to make any difference worth signing.
It could become something to explore in the offseason though, if we need a veteran backup SF and he's willing to play for a minimum contract. But I don't think he's a starter anymore or worth anything more than a 1-2 mil/yr.

Yeah, it does seem like we're always scraping the bottom when it comes to free agents. Washed up T-Mac, washed up CWebb, etc. Even our best free agent signings, Billups (the first time) and McDyess needed a career comeback or medical miracle to be successful.
Even though the NBA is trying to even the playing field, it's just not a great advertising market and the weather sucks in the winter. No one wants to come here, and there's really nothing you can do about it. This is probably the main reason why I cut Dumars some slack about his FA signings. He doesn't get dealt the same hand as the Miamis and Los Angeles of the league. Josh Smith is probably the only guy we've gotten while the player was still in his prime. (And I might be stubborn, but put Smith at PF and in the right system and I don't think he's overpaid).

World peace mentioned he wanted to come to detroit earlier in his career too.
He has apparently been friends with the guy he hit in the brawl and he must want to save face. He's done now. He's too slow to be a good defender anymore.
