Isiah Thomas NOT GM Candidate

A spokesman for Detroit Pistons owner Tom Gores called a report that the team is wooing Isiah Thomas as its next general manager "absolutely false."

"He is not a candidate for any job with the Pistons," Mark Barnhill wrote about Thomas in an email to MLive.

Barnhill, a partner in Gores' Platinum Equity, wrote that he and Gores had dinner with Thomas a couple weeks ago in Los Angeles but the upcoming Bad Boys reunion "was the sole topic. Period."

This isn't relief at all, just like Dumars saying that we have no interest in trading Brandon Knight for Brandon Jennings wasn't a relief. Of course Gores is not going to make it known that Thomas, or anyone else, is a candidate for our GM job when Dumars is still employed. GM's and Owners constantly lie and I take everything they say with a huge grain of salt whether it be good or bad.

Well said.

I think the email from Gores' crony has legitimacy. If Thomas were a candidate, I don't think they would respond so quickly to dispute the rumor with such insistence.

Its not just the media either. It would appear that many on this board have diluted themselves into thinking Joe is gone as well.
