Why did so many teams miss on this kid?

I cant post gifs from my phone, but a Doug Heffernan hand fart would be my contribution to this thread.

I didn't think he would be all that great in the pros. He used to drive me nuts a lot at Michigan because he could be a chucker at times. I've noticed he is starting to that in the pros now to but so far he's hitting pretty good.

He has the "glow" from MSG all over him. Easily will fall in terms of hype.

Scoring 10 points in NY will get you more hype than scoring 30 points for just about anyone else.
I think he will be a solid NBA player, but he won't be the star his father was.

This
Imagine if we were hopeless capped out for the next couple years, looking at the potential to lose our one superstar and didn't have Drumroe. Every time KCP scored 12 points we'd be looking to build the kid a statue.

What's so impressive?
Kid has the green light to shoot it if he chooses and from what I've seen he's a one way player.
In the right setting he's a capable shooter but let's not pretend he's Korver or Redick out there.
It's too soon to say teams missed the boat on him. Let's see if he develops a well rounded game before blowing smoke up him

He's getting some extra attention based on where he plays and how bad the rest of the draft class has been. He's clearly outplaying his draft position, but I think that has more to do with the draft than him. Most years, nobody is talking about the rookie averaging 10/1/1.

Biggest reason was that he didn't seem to be capable of getting his own shot (no first step) and wasn't standout good at anything. Wasn't a star in college and people didn't see how he could be anything more than an okay bench player. Zach Lowe I think made the observation that he's been much better in transition than anyone expected but otherwise has done mostly what was expected.

Trade Kyle Singler for him, try it, Knicks are dumb enough to do it

Re: Tim Hardaway Jr.
Why is everyone still dissing him?
Yes, I'm a Wolverine, but I don't think I'm biased. Last year, he deferred to Burkes and played within his game. He usually guarded the opponents best player and let his offense flow with the team. And obviously with his Dad's guidance, knew what he needed to do to be a successful pro.
So he doesn't get taken until 19, which lowers expectations. If you swap him and KCP in the draft, it wouldn't seem like a stretch at this point.
He also fell into a good situation - older team that needs some athleticism, lots of minutes available at SG. He took advantage of it, executed well, and now he's established. I don't think it has anything to do with New York media.
