Knight or Jennings?

Post#1 » by SpursNBucks » Fri Mar 28, 2014 3:27 pm

Who would you take right now?

Knight more of a 2 - probably best as a Vinnie Johnson type off the bench. He does seem to be a good "team" guy. He does play good defense. He makes $3.74 next year and then qualifying.

Jennings shoots WAY too much and is the most inefficient scorer in the NBA. He does have some PG skills. He's a poor defender. He might not be a "bad" teammate, but he is pretty much a punk. He makes $8. next year and $8.34 the next.

Who do you take?

Knight. The hope for Jennings to change his stripes is long gone, and we're left with a petulant, arrogant one-dimensional undersized PG who doesn't understand what it takes to win, and poisons the team's culture with his very presence.

Knight will never be a point guard. But, he's a good, hard working kid that could be a team's super- Jason Terry off the bench and vie for multiple 6th man of the year awards if he were placed in that position on a good team.

In hindsight, I'll take Knight.

Knight. I was one of the few pissed off when he was traded, he was my favorite player and still wear his Piston jersey sometimes. He's bigger, more athletic, better at defense and just as good of a shooter. Terrible move by dumbassmars and hopefully on of the many reasons he's fired in the offseason

There's already a sliver of hope for Knight IMO as he's been playing pretty decent to good this season. I thought being mentored by Cheeks and Chauncey would do wonders for a gym rat like himself but of course we traded him. And KMid has been consistently a good shooter too.

Almost as bad a trade as Gordon and 1st for Maggette. Dumars lost it.

Knight, easy.. Not sure Knight is an NBA starter on a good team but Jennings isnt a winner, he has the bball IQ of a rock. He will never be a winner.

Knight.

I hadn't given up on him as a PG/starter/Piston and my 2013 draft board was focused on finding him a backcourt mate. I was more bullish on MCW than Burke or McCollum because I felt he'd better enable Knight to find a niche in the league.

According to PER, Knight's best season (16.6) is barely better than Jennings' career average (16.2) or current output (16.3), but his defense and work ethic and attitude and age and coachability and likely contract and non-punk-status are all reasons I'd have kept him.

I wasn't happy about signing Josh Smith. I was far less pleased with Jennings being the followup to that move.

Knight for sure. Knight will probably never be the PG of a winning team but hes still a piece in the right role you can win with. Cant say the sameting about Blacktop Jennings.

If we're talking about playing the 1, I'm taking Jennings all day. I would welcome Knight back if he's willing to play 6th man.

It's a wash. Their games are different, but the end result is largely the same.

knight and moose had some great chemistry with each other since knight could actually move without the ball. also, knight was fearless and would attack the basket almost recklessly sometimes. jennings is fearless in the sense that he'll launch a step back 20 footer with a hand in his face knowing that his coaches let him do whatever he wants.

plus, there's that whole defense thing that jennings doesn't play, sooooo yeah. give me knight. i don't even need middleton back too, just give me knight.

we should have had both and Middleton. If only Dumars just signed Jennings outright and we could have avoided watching JSmoove all season.

Yes. Even with 20/20 hindsight, I don't have any qualms about the trade. Just another gamble that didn't win.

I hate Brandon Jennings, whereas I merely somewhat dislike Knight.

I'll go with Knight.
