NBA Owner Ranking

ESPN ranks our ownership at 24th out of 30. That seems about right, I guess. I'm not sure it's fair to judge him after such a short time, but so far he's not been stellar and I really miss Mr. Davidson. I would have ranked Mr. Davidson in the top 5. Karen I would have ranked 30th. ESPN doesn't back up their ranking with any objective information I can discern.

Agree, I'd like to see some details/comments on the ranking.

As for Gores, he basically took the word of a GM that has won a championship that Jennings and Smith and Cheeks would be a good idea. Is he suppose to trust Dumars or not? He did, it failed, and now he is obviously not making that mistake twice and removing Dumars. I don't think Gores is doing a bad job as owner - he was willing to spend money. He is now making a change.

Now if he hires a smuck for GM and we don't improve, or at least get on a good rebuilding path, then I will put that on Gores.

These rankings really don't mean anything to me. There's an arbitrary number next to them where they apparently aggregated some other arbitrary scores, but there's zero context given.

Obviously, this is because ESPN doesn't want their writers speaking poorly of franchise owners of any major sports, especially in a ranked list like this. But, whats the point in that event?

Why is Gores in the bottom 1/3 of NBA ownership? That is what I would like to know. (according to their reasons, not my personal beliefs)

I don't like Gores. As a venture capitalist, I believe he's looking at his ownership of this team in terms of a 5-10 year investment, then cashing out.

Even so, I'll give him a pass on some of his decision making, as he hasn't been in the basketball industry for a number of decades, unlike Dumars, who's been involved with the NBA on some level since the 1980s, and should be aware of the value of good coaching, culture, and team chemistry; not just whatever the hell his version of "talent" is. Because signing Jennings, Smith and even resigning Stuckey go in the face of anybody who would value culture and chemistry.
