BDA Sports has signed Detroit Pistons forward Jonas Jerebko.
NBA player agent Bill Duffy will represent him.
This is a pretty good sign that he's looking to opt out and test free agency instead.
Add another 4.5 mil to our capspace

That's a little bit of a surprise. Hopefully he was serious about going to a team that will give him minutes! That would be a boon to whomever is running the show in July.
I loved Jerebko in his rookie season. But, he's never been the same since that achilles injury, and often believed he was a more well rounded player than he really is.

Woo woo. I used to like JJ, then he became poop. Too bad he got injured his sophomore year

Interesting. I mean yeah the new agent/firm would want him to opt out so they can get a payday from his next contract this year rather than having the old agent get the commission. However can't imagine JJ getting anything more than the league minimum from anybody so he'll be leaving a lot of money on the table for next season - but I assume he wants PT over worrying about the couple million he'll probably short himself by opting out.

Maybe he is (over) confident in his ability, and plans on signing on a 1-year deal, in hopes of signing a larger multi-year deal the following season?

I don't think he's at that point yet where he can only get a minimum deal. But he's probably looking at it like this is his last chance to try and get more than that, and if he spends all next year on the bench again (having not really played any signifcant minutes in 3 years) then he might not even be in the league by then.
Right now though at 27, he's still got some of the youth factor going for him, and having played pretty good when given minutes in the last few weeks, his agent can use that to sell to teams that when he's gotten minutes he's produced. And they can just blame the Pistons for not giving him an opportunity.
I could see him getting like a 3 yr/8 mil contract from someone, similar to what Maxiell got from Orlando last year. Which is double the money overall and more longterm security, and if a team is going to give him that contract its with plans to play him, so he could get more money and more PT, which is a win-win for him. I think its wise to opt out. Seeing Charlie V wither away his career on the bench here, I don't think Jerebko wants to go that same path, and if he stays another year that's what is going to happen to him. CV is probably going to be out of the league next year.
I think he would fit well on a West team. He played his best ball during that week out west, playing that full court style.

Please someone tell me why we still have Jonas. I honestly am just failing to see what he contributes to our team

This is great news, we can replace his production and overall value for probably a third of his price, best news we've had since Cheeks was fired.

You could say to almost everyone on our team. We desperately need a fresh start with Dre as the center piece

A Jonas opt out and a Chauncey retirement give us near max cap room even with a new contract to Moose.

JJ has been a sh* player, yes he shows brief moments of what he brought his rookie year, but can't earn any minutes on 1 of the worst teams in the league. Personally i think he's a idiot for switching agents, because $4.5 million annually was way too much for us to pay and his old agent got him that deal

Poop's contract makes me cringe every time i think about it
Seriously SCREW Joe D I hope no one gives him another shot in this league he doesnt deserve it.
He threw 7M down the drain on Bynum, Billups, Datome.
This year we paid 20M for Poop, Bynum, Billups, Datome, Charlie V to NOT PLAY.
That's two 10M players who could have helped our team instead we have 5 players making that much DOING NOTHING.

I know. The Pistons always waste so much money on a bunch of little contracts that produce nothing, but add it all up and its like a third of our capspace.

Right,
We are a well spending team, wellknowed for throwing money thru the toilet.
I think we have our bench making the big buckets with a DNP quote after their names.
Easy money, no effort.
