The ideal answer is both of course. But if you had to make a choice, who would you move first,why and where?

While i am frustrated with Smith as any Pistons fan i have changed my mind on this. In my opinion Jennings and his defense have a more negative impact on this team than whatever Smith is doing, and Jennings offense just isn't good enough to justify playing him 35 min. (the same could be said about Smith no doubt, i am just saying Jennings at PG is a more critical position than Smith at SF/PF) Both have awful shot selections and terrible FG%. Smiths defense is bad but not Jennings- bad. Smith contract is worse and probably harder to move, if you had a free shot you still probably move him first. On the other hand if Jennings is really more tradable, which team would take him, assuming he wouldn't accept a bench role anywhere.

I voted for Smith.

We have guys that can fill PF and SF, but we have zero options at PG.

Jennings is younger, cheaper and actually showed some improvement in his assist and turnover numbers.
Smith was worse across the board.

We have two PFs, so I'd say get rid of Smith first. And hope that Jennings could be "coached" to play better D. That being said, I hope they are both gone by next year.

You guys know I have to different. I'm going with neither should be moved. Give them a full season with a good coach and if it still doesn't work out, then lets talk trades.

I pretty much agree with this.

Although Jennings, like Smith just isnt a guy you win with. He has stuffing for brains.

Only problem is, Smith still has some value because of the notion of some that he is a totally different PF (he's not) however he still has another 2 ish years left in his springs so someone might take a swing on him.

Jennings on the other hand, as a friend of mine said the other day, has virtually no value left on the market, GM's know exactly what he is.

get rid of smith and sign monroe up for tap dancing classes. maybe's there's still hope to save those turtle feet.

Jennings is more dangerous than Smith, who is fu**ing this team but not at the Jenning's level.

Smith as SF is a bad defender, Jennings is the WORST.

How many games we lost because Jennings tried to play hero-ball in the 4th quarter? Smith did it too, but not with the same frequency, I remember that I read Jennings was the player who takes more shots in the 4th in this team. Smith shot awful shots too, but when he drove to the basket he use to be good, when Jennings drove to the basket...

Both are horribles fit here, Smith is worse fit than Jennings, but I think he's so much better player than Jennings.

I went with Jenning, I think a 3 big rotation of Dre/Moose/Smith could still be effective with the right coach and system, Jennings on the other hand brings no game to the table, while bringing a lot of friction to the locker room.

Edit- if we're talking about the opportunity to dump both of them for an expiring contract who would I choose, its Smith all day, but if its about who could help us on the court more next year I thinqk you dump Jennings and keep Smith.

I personally always tackle the big problems first, and deal with the little, inefficient, wannabe gangster problems afterwards.

Smith pulled a Rip Hamilton and quit on the team. He is a cancer that must be removed 1st. Trading Smith for a package that includes a PG can help motivate or reduce Brandons negative impact.


For example trading Smith for Steve Nash would send a serious message and make a huge move to fixing the locker room.

I dont have any insider knowledge or anything but I doubt many guys on the team like him very much, he seems to have an abrasive personality. Smith isnt a choir boy, but his problem seems to be more with his coaches than it is with his teamates.

I went with Smith, but it's close, which makes me sad that we need to have this conversation about our two big signings last summer lol.

I'm more encouraged by Jennings play in the first half of the season with Cheeks coaching then I was by Smith the whole season. I think a big 3 rotation could work, if it was actually a rotation and one of them was willing to come off the bench.

I don't know @Joseph Mamah and @Warspite. I think you guys might be over-thinking this. If you look at the bench, it looks like Jennings has a good relationship with the entire team. Everyone's always talking to him and laughing. Even while he's on the floor everyone still talks to him. To me it looks like our team has a better relationship with Jennings compared to Knight.

I want Smith gone first. He has a loser attitude and takes stupid shots.

We need some spacing around Drummond-Monroe. Smith thinks he's that spacing. Given his age he's unfixable, given his contract one more year like this year and we are looking at CV31 2.0 (completely unmovable).


Jennings we can bench and move as an expiring contract after this season if he doesn't improve.

I have no idea but i just chose Jennings because defense > offense.

With Smith you can just make Monroe's contract bigger, move Smith to the bench, and have a good defender off the bench.

With Jennings the defense just sucks. You can draft Smart or Kyle Anderson to run the offense, or steal Kyle Lowry .

As far as whose more likely to go. This league is oversaturated with pgs... I think it's be more likely that Rondo and Smith unite than anybody trades for Jennings. He's horrible at his position on defense. Smith can be hidden with a smart coach.
