That's a relief. Even if we don't get him, it helps us keep talent at #8.

Good stuff, I believe it's a top8 draft in terms of high talent potential when you look at these 8 guys-
Wiggins
Parker
Embiid
Randle
Exum
Smart
Gordon
Vonleh
So even if we don't want what's left at 8 it should still hold a lot of trade value. The whole first round is pretty much solid though after these 8. So trade down and try to walk away with two prospects or trade down and try to dump Smith in the process.

But really, who wouldn't come out when you have a chance to be drafted by the lakers.

Completely agree with those 8. Don't agree with trading down, just take whoever is there at 8. Even Gordon or Vonleh we can bring off the bench the first year or two and assess in the future.

I'm good with that too. I'm really intrigued by both Vonleh and Gordon, Especially Vonleh.

Pretty much agree with the list. I think Gordon and Vonleh will be good, but we really need some talent on the wings. We already have Monroe/Smith issue to resolve, don't need another PF to throw into the mix.

Very nice -- makes up for Sacto not coming through for us.
We have about a 82% chance of keeping the pick, which includes a small but not completely impossible (3%? 5%?) chance of picking top 3 for either Wiggins, Parker, or Embiid (or trading down from there for more assets, in the case of Embiid).

Guys like Harris, Anderson, Ennis, LaVine etc all look interesting but none of them really look like no doubt sure things. We have cap room this summer, if we somehow move Smith and sign one of Hayward, Deng or Ariza we are much more balanced already. I'd be fine with one of Randle/Gordon/Vonleh, signing a FA 3 and giving KCP a real chance. If one of R/G/V work out we can always move Monroe for a wing.

I'm back on the marcus smart bandwagon after watching moose and Drummond thoroughly dominate the thunder last night. I really hope he falls to us. lockdown defense from our PG would be refreshing, even if he has trouble running an offense. the ball's gonna go through moose anyways.
oh yeah, that Gordon hayward guy looks good running an offense too...

We have a little less than three percent chance of getting the FIRST pick. The odds of moving into one of the top 3 spots is closer to 10%.
Not enough for it to be anything you can plan on, but just enough to be excited about the lottery.
To be truthful the 8th pick this year vs. getting this unpleasantness behind us and being assured a pick next year is pretty close to a tossup for me. I guess I'd minorly prefer the pick this year, but I won't be that upset if we lose it.
I really, really want to move up though, of course. That's our shot at getting a franchise level guy. Parker declaring definitely changes the overall picture there.

If the balls fall in our favor I'm guessing we'll pick Smart. Parker declaring for the NBA Draft just helped us out.

Not a fan of Gordon or Smart, and I'd be scared to draft Exum.
Glad to see Jabari come out, it would be awesome if Detroit somehow jumped up to #2 to grab him. Having a real offensive player capable of creating his own shot and scoring from distance would be perfect. Drummond/Jabari duo :O good potential 1/2 options for the future.

I would have been surprised if he stayed in Durham.
Glad he came out, like you said, even if we can't draft him, his exclusion would have made it a 7 player draft.
