OT: Playoff predictions/reactions/general talk

Post#1 » by ImHeisenberg » Fri Apr 18, 2014 8:43 pm

Pistons-centric playoff thread.

The first round series have shaped up to have quite a few fun match-ups. Duncan and Dirk squaring off at least one more time. Clippers/Warriors. Portland and Houston will be gunning from all over. Will Indiana implode in the first or second round? Does Miami have enough gas left in the tank to make another title run?

Should be as interesting a post-season as it could be with the Pistons sitting it out (yet again).

I think Washington could surprise some people and make a deep run, I really like their versatility.

I agree but Randy Wittman tho...

right now I'm looking forward to Clips-Warriors because that will be a gritty series and comes with real rivalries:)
My dark horse for out east is the Raptors who are as hot as the Nets right now... In the West I have Portland, 40-19 wit Gasol:)
I say the Heat series will go to at least five games, but the Heat will win
right now, I have the Pacers, Heat, Raptors, and Wiz advancing to the next round in the East, in the West I have the Spurs, Grizzlies, Blazers, and Clippers advancing

Some statements are so ridiculous they should result in a timeout, so the poster can sit in a corner and think about what he wrote.

Assuming you meant Memphis there, I think everyone knows they are championship contenders even as a 7 seed. I would like the Raptors more if Valanciunas was more polished but they could certainly make some noise.

I'm hoping that the Nets beat the Raptors so that we can end up seeing KG/Pierce vs. LeBron one more time before they really hang it up. Those guys seem to have an actual rivalry going on. The Celtics really wanted to beat the Heat badly when KG and Pierce were still there. I loved the intensity. I don't know if they can beat the Raptors though, or do it quickly enough to be rested for the Heat.

Bogut is hurt, right? If that's the case, the Warriors are screwed. They cannot handle Blake and Jordan, and CP3 is a great defender who can make Curry work for his buckets.

Dirk will screw with the Spurs nicely by drawing Duncan away from the basket, but the Spurs are the best team in basketball again and should crush them. Tony Parker will be moving around the floor at will with Calderon or Ellis "guarding" him.

I hope that Memphis puts up a good fight, how about a vintage Tayshaun Prince performance against KD?

I like how Washington looks, but something about them seems untrustworthy. Besides, can you imagine the grind-fest in a Pacers/Bulls matchup? Both teams are so incapable offensively that I could see the Bulls pulling the upset. Of course they'd have no gas left to deal with the Heat and probably get steamrolled, but still.

You know what though? Go Bobcats. Make LeBron work for his first round victory.

I'd like to see a "last hurrah" championship for Duncan, or a first for KD.

I don't think either the heat or thunder will make it to the finals.

Except for OKC if they meet up in the Conference finals, the thunder are able to convert all those midrange shots the spurs like to yield. And they're point guards are good defenders plus ibaka prowling the paint

Man ibaka on this team would be a god send

Stretch 4 ( midrange ) with good defense next to drummond

Indy is likely going to continue slumping since there's no reason not to think they won't.

Bobcats can suffocate teams on defense, it's really up to Kemba and Big Al to do some work inside and outside. I have them giving Miami a hell of a time. Game 7.

Wizards are meh, they won't get past the first round, the Bulls are going to fight them to the bitter end.

I would've thought GSW would've been the dark horse again this year to make a lot of noise, but Jackson has brought too much baggage and the team plays dysfunctional sometimes. Not to mention, Jarret Jack will be missed this time around and losing Bogut is an even bigger loss than losing Lee a bit last year. Still love this team.

Houston will make a lot of noise I think. They're really well constructed. Lin and Asik for the second unit is pretty deadly.

I have a feeling that everybody can beat the spurs in the west.
In the east it's another story, hope for some big suprises.
Indiana out in the second round, sympathy for the raptors & wizzards.
In the west sympathy for grizzlies & thunder, so for me one of my
favorites out in the first round. 8-)

Hell, whatever, again no postseason with my beloved pistons

LAC vs GS will be fun. CP3 needs to start having playoff success, he's getting up there.

I want BRK vs Miami too, and I want BRK to win (though I doubt it'll happen lol)

Actually looking forward to watching the Raptors/Nets game in a couple hours. It's one of those weird situations where the higher seeded team is generally considered the underdog.

I'm hoping the Raps win the series. Why? Because the Nets are one of the higher possibilities to make a panic trade to quickly improve and take Josh Smith off our hands for a couple future first round picks and whatever contract they need to dump to make it happen.

Also, I'm a sucker for underdogs.

I really struggle to see anyone beat SA. Maybe the Grizz, OKC is still just two good offensive players.

No one in the East has anything for Miami, especially Indy.

Their inexperience definitely showed, draped against the Nets roster, full of playoff vets.

But, I was in awe of the fan support that showed up in Toronto. Not just the crowd in the arena, but the thousands of fans outside the arena who couldn't get tickets. That's an amazing level of support.

I'm still rooting for the Raps. The worse the Nets finish, the more likely they will think a guy like Josh Smith could help them.
