Smennings on the roster could happen.

A 3-big rotation would be a must. Although one of Drummoose could be moved.

Anyways, if anybody wants to play, what is the best Smennings-roster for Day 1 of 2014-15?

Rewatch games from 2004 and drink until I think they are happening live.

If they all come back then obviously one of the bigs will come off the bench. It will probably be Monroe because he won't be in a contract year now and he can cover the 4 and 5 off the bench.

Jennings is just terrible and I would try to sign Collison or something to take his starting job assuming Smart is not available in the draft.

If Smart is not there at 8 then I would strongly consider drafting Dario Saric if we get the assurance that he will come to the NBA next season.

In FA try to sign Collison and Bazemore who I think will turn into a good player if givin a solid chance. This would give us a pretty solid well balanced roster that should get in the playoffs.

Collison/Jennings
KCP/Bazemore
Saric/Singler
Smith/Monroe
Drummond/Monroe

If everyone stays on the roster I think our best option would be to strengthen our bench. When Smith moves to the 4 we need more shooting and defense at the 3. We also need another guard who'll help initiate plays. I think this plan is the best opportunity to be competitive next season.

Jennings/Smart
KCP/Smart/Morrow
Smith/Green
Monroe/Smith
Drummond/Monroe/Hawes

Drummond-Monroe-Smith can't play together. There's no room. Even if we played KCP he'd be the only guy the opponent would guard out to the 3 point line. The only way those 3 would ever work is with CP3 at pg and Durant at the 2.

What would you suggest we do if our big 3 came back? Smith makes 14mil and Monroe will probably make over 12mil, you can't put that amount of money on the bench.

It doesnt work man. How much more needs to be said or seen from the 3 of them. There is no positive at all with starting all 3 bigs.

Of course you can. If smith is still here, you send him to the bench until you can trade him. It does no good to resign monroe if you aren't going to develop him and drummond together.

Jennings is a bit tougher. We really don't have anyone behind him in a position to step up. Ideally, we would find a tough nosed pg that the coach could turn to when jennings isn't giving effort on D.

Don't you think that will lower Smith's trade value if we benched him?

Wait out Smith & Jennings contracts, try to keep Drummond from demanding a trade.

Our ceiling with Jennings & Smith is what we did this year.

If he had trade value we wouldn't have hypothetical threads about not being able to trade him.

No indication we'll get better with bad attitude 1 and even badder attitude 2 still on this team. They can't coexist since they demand too many shot attempts playing hero ball.

I'll just drink and laugh away, as usual on this forum.

Record Smith saying something racist and get Silver to ban him.

I think if Detroit has to keep Jennings and Smith the best idea would be trading Monroe since that REALLY big3 cannot co-exist. Might as well use that money to grab a wing in FA and try to draft another to play big minutes. I'd like to believe that the team could get better just because of the spacing upgrade, coaching replacement, and Drummond's ability level increasing. How many more wins would that amount too? Not sure.
