What 2014 pick(s) to get Drummond?

Post#1 » by Laimbeer » Wed May 21, 2014 9:20 pm

How high a pick or what combination of picks would you need in this year's draft to trade Drummond?

I'm comfortable at getting both #1 (Embiid) and #3 (Wiggins or Parker). Anything less is questionable.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Only if we end up with Embiid and Wiggins or Parker.

I wouldn't trade him for any pick in the draft but if we could get what you just proposed then I would have to pull the trigger. I think he's more valuable than the #1 overall but no way we could pass up on #1 and #3

I wouldn't trade him for any picks. franchise centers with his athleticism are once in a generation. If he lives up to expectations, he could be dominant for a decade plus. No one in this draft is worth giving that up.

None of them. I'm not trading him to Cleveland so that scratches pick 1 and Embiid would be considered a huge success if he does what Drummond has done his first two years.

I would only trade Drummond for Durant & the Brow. I wouldn't even trade him for Lebron, Lebron would leave so fast our heads would spin.

Getting #1 and #3? Sure. But Drummond >>>> Embiid since we don't know about Embiid's durability. Don't even know if that's how I'd go - might do Wiggins and Parker, and move Monroe to center.

Embiid scares the heck out of me. He's pretty light for where you want a center to be and he's already got back problems. Greg Oden and countless others have shown when a big guy has physical problems run away, especially anything with the back/legs/feet. Outside of Illgauskas I struggle to think of a big who overcame early injury problems to have a long and consistent career and Z was not a banger.

The Cavs have hit every early draft cliche but one. They've got the franchise PG who doesn't play defense, the SG who hates the franchise player and thinks he should be the #1 option, the 4 whose undersized and can't shoot and the overweight tweener. Time for them to add the injury plagued big guy who goes in front of a franchise wing to complete their "how to waste a top 5 pick" Bingo card.

There is nobody. Let me be clear, NOBODY in this draft that I would surrender Andre Drummond for.

Drummond is a proven commodity, unlike everyone else in the draft.

Big men are so hard to come by. Seems like 80% of all big men taken in the top 10 are no better than bench bigs. We found 2 that are borderline all-stars, one of whom is on the edge of superstardom. You don't risk that for a shot in the dark.

As hard as it would be to part with Dre, I agree with you, #1 and #3 would do it. But I'd rather have Parker to go with Wiggins then Embiid and Wiggins. Embiid's injury history concerns me. Plus we'd still have Moose at center and Smith at PF.

Give me a sure fire starting 5 two of which should be all-stars and you got Drummond

No, just no. Look at the production correlation with age and the pace of progress and it's simple. Nothing is a sure thing, but barring injury AD is a stud in the paint for a long time.

5 Million future first round picks wouldn't be enough for me to trade Drummond.

Very insightful! I'm cracking up. They will be a team with 3 #1 picks and will still suck. Pretty funny.

I wouldn't trade him for a single top 3 pick obviously but I would definitely would trade him for two top 3 picks. Embiid + Wiggins/Parker would be worth Drummond.
