cheap free agent targets

Post#1 » by aad » Wed May 28, 2014 5:00 pm

Jordan Hamilton
Jodi Meeks
Wesley Johnson
Mike scott
James Jones
Anthony Morrow
Nick Young
PJ Tucker
Jerryd Bayless
Jimmer Fredette
Alan Anderson
CJ Miles

If we can get two of these players to help spread the floor that will be good

Patty Mills is actually one of my top targets. Out of that list my top 3 would probably be Meeks, Tucker and Hamilton. Young was really good last season as well but he is turning 29 so I'm not to sure about him. But he did average 18 points on good efficiency though.

I'd look to pick up Morrow and fredette for cheap. Let Datome actually play enough to get in rhythm and we should be good on shooters.

I'd like Tucker from that list.

Wes Johnson would be a good 3 and D player for us off the bench. Anthony Morrow would provide a deep threat but not much else. Jodie Meeks would be good too.

If we keep Jennings here, Jordan Farmar could be a great sign to complete the backcourt rotation with Jennings-KCP-Farmar.

Patty Mills is top of my list too.

Move bynum and filler for Webster and get Mills in as back up PG. :D

Mills, Tucker, Morrow, Meeks, I'd be happy with any of them

Just an FYI- Detroit already has 10 guaranteed contracts for next season already (now counting Jerebko).

Assuming we keep #38, that's 11, one active roster spot left, with team options for Jorts, Billups and whatever happens with Monroe. I doubt we keep Chauncey, but if we retain Monroe and pickup the option on Jorts, that puts us at 13 players already.

Not a lot of wiggle room unless SVG starts making drastic changes.

Yes, but Siva and Mitchell aren't locks for your active roster, so take that down to 8.

I came here to do two things: get lost and slice **** up & I'm all out of directions.

Looks pretty good to me. 10ppg on 46 fg% and 42% from 3 in 18mpg. His assist are pretty low though.

I hope siva makes the team. he really showed improvement in the 2nd half of last season. I genuinely believe he's going to be s good backup PG. it's guys like bynum, jerebko, and gigi that are deadweight on the roster. maybe we can move those guys for a single expiring contract just to make room on the roster. bargnani anyone??

Now that I'm thinking about it, since we have our own d-league team now, can we send down guys like siva and mitchell while maintaining their rights despite having a full roster?

The league is littered with quality backup PGs, no need to sign Mills. He'll probably cost a lot more than most, but I bet his production will go down outside of SA.

Look at what Chicago's done. They've gotten excellent production out of vet's min guys, then let some sucker sign them for a big contract while replacing them without missing a beat. If we're getting a PG, we should be thinking about getting a long-term starter, not a bench player like Mills (or Jackson for that matter, bench players from a contender shouldn't necessarily be starters elsewhere).

If Jackson is Reggie Jackson, then yes he should be a starter for the Pistons because he's worlds better than Jennings.
