With free agency only 2 weeks away, I thought I'd start a thread to go with the trade and draft threads.
First rumor - Terry just said on 97.1 that he expects SVG to go after LeBron if he opts out

I'm sure Detroit makes a call if LeBron opts-out, but I doubt the interest would be mutual, as 29 other teams would be ringing him up as well.

Lebron just got beat by Pop. I think he believes a system needs to be in place and then talent comes after. With SVG and Drummond, we have an advantage. With Detroit, he won't be coming here lol

Lebron Melo and Drummond! Now back to reality, I would try to sign Ariza or Deng and throw money at lowry also.
Also I am just imagining how funny it would be to see Stan Van Gundy meet with lebron. He would probably bring the biggest book ever with a thousand reasons why he would be the perfect fit here. If anyone can convince lebron to come here its stan the man

Literally a snow ball chance in hell we get any real all-stars to come here.
On to reality, I think Ariza and maybe even Hayward are realistic options. I prefer Hayward since you build off a young core and with Dre being so young.

I wouldn't mind throwing 10mil at Gordon Hayward and seeing if Utah match.

I think i'd still hate Lebron if we signed him. haha I really can't stand him.
As for realistic options, Meeks is a guy i like a lot and shouldn't command an arm and a leg.
Mills would be nice, but it would be hard to get him now. I think a good plan B at PG would be Vasquez.
I'm still torn on SF options. Ariza had a great year, but i'm not a big fan. Deng, I like a lot, but age, injuries and price are all against him. Hayward would be awesome IMO, but that would be hard to get done. It wouldn't hurt to send an offer out though.
I think we need to see what SVG does with Moose, Smith and Jennings before we can plug up the roster.

I could see us signing him to a reasonable deal. I'm not for over-spending on him though. A 3-guard rotation featuring Jennings/Stephenson/KCP would be exciting.

How much $$ would we have to spend on FA?

Guys, please don't bring the idea of us signing LeBron up.
I'm a little kid inside and get all giddy at the thought, and spent all night awake, only to collapse at work the next day not because of exhaustion, but because my co-worker would announce to the entire office that I think LeBron is gonna sign with the Pistons.
Please.

The pistons need toughness and character, he is the type of player that brings that.

I think Hayward is the best target for the Pistons. I would go as far as 12 mil a year honestly. As far as Lebron, Nope! not coming here! No chance. I would not be surprised to see Lebron and Mello end up with the Lakers. Both take a pay cut to win. I could also see the Lakers making a good offer to Monroe. Allot of "ifs" but imagine a line up of
PG: ???
SG: Kobe
SF: Mello
PF: Lebron
C: Monroe
Just about anyone could play PG in that line up. Kobe and Lebron would be the main ball handlers anyway. No problem getting league minimum veterans to fill the rest of the roster. It would all hinge on if Mello and Lebron are willing to take a low enough amount so LAL can make an offer the Pistons won't match or a Sign and trade deal that Detroit would take.

No one knows yet exactly. 10 mil to 12-13 mil if they decline Chauncey's & Jorts team option i think.
1) Lowry
2) Stephenson
3) Meeks
4) W.Johnson
5) Mills
are my targets for FA in that order

SVG is shutting the door on the old regime, so I expect Billups to be on his way.
1) Lowry is a pitbull. I love his toughness. He's the best pg in free agency.
2) Stephenson has proven to be something of an idiot. No thanks.
3) Meeks and Kobe have a bromance. I can't see Meeks leaving the Lakers
4) W.Johnson as in Wesley Johnson?!? No thanks.
5) Mills is going to courted by so many suitors. I hear the Knicks are looking at him. If we could get him, he would be a nice replacement.
