SVG singles out Jonas Jerebko as the 'most consistent guy'

...“He’s put in a lot of time,” Van Gundy said Tuesday. “He’s been the most consistent guy at our facility coming into work.”

Jerebko, who heads into a contract year, has a chance to revitalize his career under Van Gundy, hired to run the franchise and coach in May...

But Van Gundy has a history of using power forwards with three-point range. Jerebko shot nearly 42% from three-point range last season.

Jerebko is taking advantage of this time to make a good first impression.

“In our facility the most consistent guy has been Jerebko,” Van Gundy said. “I think he’s made some gains with his body. I think he’s in a good frame of mind.”...

Is it Stan the GM puffing smoke to bring up a players value or Stan the Coach pointing out a guy modeling an example he'd like to see followed?

I don't think it's a coincidence we are seeing a lot of praise around guys like Monroe/Smith/Jerebko aka "the guys most likely to be traded this summer" while not a whole lot for Drummond or KCP.

He's just saying that Jerebko has been there the most. not much to see here.

One encouraging thing - I had forgotten/not realized how effective he was on threes last season.

Yup. This title is really misleading :nonono:

It doesn't mean we won't see improvements from JJ this year under SVG, but this title reminds me of news reporters / bloggers purposely rephrasing or taking things out of context in order to generate hits / ad revenue.

Stan will soon realize that he has the hardest working offseason roster in the league Then realize soon after that its because they vacation from November to April.

Seriously, we hear this every summer how much work guys are putting in, and then the season starts and 90% of the roster looks like CV on the court.

Maybe they should tone it down in the summer and save some energy for the season.

Yes, but did our King of Sweden give us the things that we was needin'?
Or was he just mooching?
I bet he'll get a veteran's minnie contract somewhere, even if he's pokey.

Somebody must be the most, or the first, nothing wrong with it...

This is Jerebko's contract year, makes sense for him to work hard and earn his spot in the rotation.

I know it's your boilerplate off season story, but I'm glad JJ is putting the time in. When he played the garbage man roll, he was very effective. Once he started thinking he was a "skill player", it went down hill for him. If he gets back to just concentrating on hustle plays, he could be a solid bench guy under SVG.

I think this is Stan letting the league know Jonas is hard working and happens to be on an expiring deal...

Hopefully he goes back to playing like he did in his rookie season and then his value can go up and we can trade him at the deadline.

I have no problem with JJ... he brings his lunch pail and you get 100% effort (minus natural abilities)... the least of our problems for 10 minutes p/game.

So there was a point last year when I thought about the bench and which guys would actually have a job on another team and whenever I would watch JJ he seemed to be making more threes that I thought he would...

Gotta agree with the SVG coach/president power play here
