Collison

Post#1 » by Southern Piston » Thu Jul 3, 2014 6:10 pm

Does anyone else think 3/16m was a steal, why would we throw down 8m for Thomas, Collison gives you a all around better game. I know we're gonna be better becuase SVG is the coach, and that has been are biggest problem for like 8 seasons now, but his moves don't seem to good to me.

Collison is not good. He's a good backup, but he is definitely not a starter. He flamed out really badly when he was a starter for the Mavs and Pacers.

Thomas is better than Collison in my opinion. He's also younger

Collision is a slightly better passer, but that's the only thing I'd give him an advantage in

Depends what you need out of your pg. IT has a score first mentality rather than get others involved. He has even said that publicly that he is a scoring pg, its no secret. Which unfortunately, cuz IT is my fav player, doesnt work for what the Kings are trying to build. Doesnt matter whether we have IT or Collison because Ray Mac will be the starting pg eventually. If IT lands in Detroit you will love his hustle, very exciting player to watch.

My friend from Oakland gets to watch the kings a lot and he doesn't like Thomas, basically thinks we should ride out Jennings :/. That worries me.
I don't know about his defense or the 6 APG.. But his scoring ability is definitely appealing.

Collison at that deal is a million times better than any deal Bynum signed and Jennings' current deal.. I don't know much about IT tho.. but I've always loved Collison's game and I'm disappointed once again for not even considering the guy.

Your friend should watch Jennings play for a season and then see what he thinks about Thomas.

I haven't watch a ton of IT but just his passion will be a breath of fresh air!

I think SVG's system can play to his strength, especially since SVG seems to have identified him as a player he wants. Stans coaching and winning culture should also help his decision making in regard to distributing the ball.

I see some similarities between Jameer and and Thomas although Thomas is a better and more versatile scorer. I could see SVG getting the most out of him.

If we land him I'd be happy about it, worry about Jennings later.

Yeah, Thomas isn't perfect and probably not ideal giving his small size when it comes to defense. But after witnessing Jennings for a year I'm more then thrilled to bring in Thomas.

Thomas is prolific scorer. Collison is better game manager and defender

I agree those are their strengths but to you project Collison as a starter on a winning team?

I guess they do need a non-scorer with the rest dominating the shots.

Oh yeah, I forgot. It better be Stauskas or else that lineup would have major spacing issues

I think he's a starter on a winning team, if not he's your third guard. Effective two ways, I would choose him in a playoff series for sure over Thomas. Three year contracts, Collison is in his prime/ and traveled much like Billups was when we got him. I'd put money he has a good year. I'm hoping we do get Thomas though I just want us to flip Bynum back for him, or send Bynum to LA for Barnes. I really like Siva, and think he;s worth his contract and we should let him develop unless someone else happens to offer something for him. I wanted Collison I would have called him just over midnight and tossed 6-7m for sure. But now that he's gone I would really like to see us rid ourselves of Bynum, and Jarebko maybe we can Lin for that? I'd rather go with Siva, and Dowiddle as backups than watch Bynum anymore, he broke through for us the year everything started to decline drastically, I consider him a black hole as much as cv/dnp almost. If Stuckey finally breaks through somewhere else I will blame his spot on the roster for Stuckeys development also.(as well as dismal coaching)
