I think this would be a good trade for both teams. Houston doesn't have to give away any picks, we get rid of two players we don't need. Lin would work for us. Jarebko would be good next to Howard, and Bynum would be good for them as a backup. It shaves some money for themand we can pull 8m for Thomas off the table and try to find something better with the money left over. Lin is only one more year on his contract, he would fit the bill of needs better than Bynum, and he'll sell tickets, Jerseys, and probably push up TV ratings, while giving us more salary space to get better personnell. It's got to be better than what Philly is offering.

If not, I'd do it.

It sounds like Houston only wants 2nd round draft picks in return for Lin so that they can free up the cap space to offer a max contract to Bosh.

If Houston loses out on their bid for Bosh though, I wouldn't mind seeing Detroit trade Smith or Monroe and Jennings for Parsons and Lin. I know this is highly unlikely and it was mentioned that Houston only wanted to trade Lin if they got a top free agent but it has been rumored that Lin is unhappy with all the attention Houston gave to Melo and made Lin feel unwanted.

Backwards. He counts on the cap for 8 million, but is getting paid 15 million in cash.

The 15 mil is literally not a problem unless our owner is cheap. Even then, he'll probably make it up in jersey sales because of the Asian market.

It only counts 8.3 mil against the cap. Which is the same as Jennings.

This is correct. Houston wants to move him with nothing coming in return. I'd like Lin over Jennings, but the logistics of making that maneuver work is difficult.

You have it backwards. His cap hit is around $8.5 million, his actual salary for next season is $15 million.

I actually read somewhere that this is a false rumor about Lin jerseys flying off shelves and what not. Apparently Rockets jersey sales took a slight turn downward after Lin was signed, stagnated, and didn't go way up until they acquired Howard. Now that I think about it though, I believe I did read that on this website though so take it with a grain of salt.

I knew the salary and salary cap hit was one way or the other but I wasn't sure which way it was. Thanks for clearing that up.

Well, with the ball in his hands and facilitating on the offensive end, I can see him flourishing again which would help drive his stock and possibly jersey sales. Right now, the reason why he's relegated to the bench is the fact that Harden is their primary ball handler. Those 2 can't coexist since they need the ball in their hands.

I think you're right.
The whole asian market hype was big when the whole linsanity thing was going on, but now that he's just a role player it's died.

Lin is still living off the hype New York Colity sold. He's not worth paying that much. I'd only trade Smith for akin straight up. Houston was interested in signing Smith last offseason. I don't see them wanting the trade until every other player is off the market.

Jeremy Lin isn't Chinese which is went nobody buys his jersey. Yao was a star from China. This might shock white Americans but the fact that people have Asian facial features doesn't mean anything. Otherwise China, Japan, north and south Korea wouldn't be seperate world powers with various levels of animosity towards each other
