Fills a need I guess. Not the most glamorous signing and I'm sure he won't play a huge role. I guess this means Harrellson is gone?

I hope there's some sort of follow up deals, because Jorts is better than Gray.
I hope he didn't get any more than the vet min.

Is Jorts really injured or something? Last I heard from him was that injury and then never again.

Depth center who will rack up DNP-CD's, replaces Jorts who the Pistons wanted to play Summerleague but he begged out saying he had a back issue but would surely be ready for regular camp. Also Gray is a pure low post center, something the Pistons want out of Drummond and with the offense based around Drummond in the low post, and with the defense set up that way as well, makes continuity sense to have the back-up (or third string behind Monroe) offer the same package of never straying more than five feet from the basket on either end of the floor.

Jorts was OK last year and he had 3 point range. If Gray gets anything more than the minimum i am worried. And why several years for this bum? what is SVG doing :?

Better be for the minimum but he could be a decent bench guy.

I guess I picked the wrong thread to post in originally!

Gray isn't a guy who's going to move the needle at all. Maybe SVG wants him as a practice body for Drummond.

Did he play under Bowers in NO? Aaron played 2009-2010 and 2010-2011 seasons in New Orleans before heading to Toronto for 2011-2012 season (FA signing or trade?).

Roster is getting pretty full. We've got some dead weight to deal with.

I really think some trades are going to happen sometime soon.

Interesting point. With Sheed gone and Brendan Malone the defacto bigman coach this season this would make sense. Especially as the Pistons wouldn't want Monroe battling Drummond in practice/drills and Harrellson isn't that type of grind it out down low center either for Drummond to work on.

SVG really wants to get those end of the bench guys locked up fast. Cartier Martin, Aaron Gray. And not 1 year, at least two, for both. He could have signed these guys at the end of september with zero competition. Well lets hope for brighter moves to follow.

This is the calm before the storm before trades.

I think besides a surprise IT signing or a SF, we should be done signing others IMO.

Harrellson's deal isn't guaranteed. So either he's traded to a team who wants that cap space relief or we just don't pick up his second year and he becomes a UFA.
