OT CV's free agency series...

Post#1 » by dVs33 » Thu Jul 10, 2014 3:13 am

http://charlievillanueva.sportsblog.com ... _free.html

So our old friend Charlie V is putting together a web series documenting his offseason where he'll try and get a spot somewhere in the league.
First episode was fairly uneventful, but could be an interesting series to watch.

I say just lock him up for a few more years in detroit and be done with it :D *runs and hides*

Whats going to consist of? CV eating food , not working out and then doing some charity event for collecting a paycheck to be a scub?

Honestly, would people be opposed if we brought him back for vet min?

Not trying to make him seem positive in any way, but he's been a professional during his time here for like 95% of the time. And our young bloods seem to like him enough.

If SVG can sort out the perimeter players and there's an open spot left, I'd bring him back for the 15th spot.

Well...ok. lol.

I thought I'd play devil's advocate for a sec. And for the record I agree with you guys, he's been on this team far too long.

Was CV a bad contract and horrible? Yes. But he seems like a likeable dude.

I would absolutely be opposed to it. He seems like a very good guy (always doing stuff for anti-bullying campaigns and such), and I don't have anything against him. It's not his fault Dumars overpaid him. Any of us in the same situation would have also taken the money, so the fact that he's become so vilified is actually pretty sad.

That said, when it comes to basketball, all he really does is shoot the 3, and even that he does at an extremely average rate. Jorts is a much better player than him who also shoots the 3 and every indication so far has been that we are or have let him go. So, yeah, it would be bad to bring him back, but that has more to do with Jorts than it does him.

If we brought him back I would definitely be opposed. The guy spent his offseasons getting into the best shape of his life only to be out of shape for his national team and the for the team that paid his salary (every year). He got injured while lying in bed (mysterious ankle injury).

He brings nothing to the table except being the continuous butt of a punchline. He was a professional who never delivered what he was paid to do, so he was a wasted asset.

Nothing to see here...nothing at all.

This guy shouldn't even be in the league. But, after Ben Gordon just scammed Orlando for $9 million, who knows?

A lot of NBA players eat a lot of cookies/candy. But when you're near 7ft tall and 240-250lbs, and then work out a couple hours a day and otherwise pretty active they probably need 4000+ calories a day just to maintain.

I don't think CV has ever come to camp "fat", so I'm not sure what the big deal is about him eating cookies. The guy is a total natural talent physically. He's got unlimited range. He's got an assortment of post moves and flip shots. He's got all the tools you could ask for..... except heart. He just doesn't put forth the effort on either side of the ball. I suspect he doesn't really love playing basketball and just got into it because he was tall and athletic. That's fine. I wish him all the best in whatever he decides to do eventually, but I don't want that type of guy on my team.
