This makes me sad, as I'd rather have him than Bynum. But one of them had to go and it makes sense to get rid of the not-guaranteed contract.

Damn, He actually looked pretty decent in summer league. Hopefully we find a way to get rid of Bynum and then get rid of Jennings once Dinwiddie is healthy.

A financial decision if there ever was one.
We'd have still had to pay Bynum if we decided to release him.
Hope he picks up somewhere else.

This sucks, I really liked siva but after the Augustin signing siva would be the 3rd pg at best.

Good luck to him. Theres definitely a spot for him in the league IMO. Was far more deserving of a sport than Mitchell, but its business.

Damn, I was really hoping we could get a 2nd rounder for Bynum.

That sucks if true, but SVG must really want guys who can shoot and Siva just doesn't have a proven jumpshot yet. Not to mention there's just too many PGs now.
My guess is Bynum gets traded or waived too. If Jennings and Augustin are going to play all of the minutes at PG, there's no need to pay Bynum and Siva or waste a roster spot on them.
There's also a chance Dinwiddie is ready to play and any minutes leftover at PG will be needed for him to develop.

IMO, you always need 4 guys on the roster who can run the offense.
I've read Dinwiddie is out for the year and I've read that he can play this fall. *shrug*
And I hope Tony Mitchell can be released still. Or even better - traded for a future 2nd, but I think Siva woulda been more worthy of a future 2nd, so doubt it...

Did his contract ever become guaranteed?

I'm happy to see this news; this was the right move. Besides the "damn" (presumably) expressing some sort of disappointment, I agree with all of this.

Siva is a solid player. Svg is making a mistake

He was solid in the D-League, and he's been solid in Summer League.
Last year he was awful for the Pistons. It was clear he wasn't ready yet. At 23, Siva's potential is probably limited to being a solid role player. That's his best-case-scenario. Worst would be he's out of the league in a year or two.

We all saw it coming, but disappointing nonetheless. I suppose in the grand scheme of things, this is the right move. Wish the D-League paid a little better because I would look forward to a GR game if he was playing for the Drive.

I kind of seen this coming but I wanted Siva to stay and trade Bynum for a 2nd rounder. I guess untill Dinwiddie comes back (if he does at all this season) we'll run a 5 guard rotation of:
Jennings / DJ / Bynum
KCP / Meeks
I like the potential of our back court. SVG has a lot to work with here.

Peyton Siva could work his way back onto an NBA roster some day, but he clearly doesn't have the J that Stan needs to see from a PG. Couple that with a lack of height and you have a marginal player. I like his attitude, but that only takes you so far.
Sad part is, you could say both of those negative things about Will Bynum, too. He needs to go.

Jennings & Bynum can't shoot either, can we release them too please?
Anyway Siva is a decent PG, he should go to europe, work on his jump shot & he will have a chance to be a backup in the NBA.
