Stan Van Gundy plans to hire Quentin Richardson in a player development/mentoring staff job for Detroit, league sources tell Yahoo.
Huh. What exactly does he offer - hell if I know. "There is no such thing as a bad shot"?
Stan did say he expected to add a former NBA player to his staff, and I believe QRich played for Stan in Orlando, so there is that connection.

Interesting. I do recall while Quentin was on the Magic that he was a great locker room guy who would go crazy on the bench cheering for his teammates. Plus, he was a gym rat. Thus, maybe his role will be somewhere along those lines. Who knows.

Makes sence, he played in Stans system, is young enough to have the ears of the players, play a little in practice. He was a big part of those 3 point shooting teams.

Doing some actual digging on this cat - he seems like a good dude, lived a hard knock life but still kept smiling type. Passionate and driven, appreciative of all he had been given/earned. Seems like he'd be more a coaching liaison of sorts - the guy players will first go to with any issues before going up the food chain to Stan. Where Butler is the lockerroom teammate vet/mentor, QRich will be the management/coaching staff version.

Some snippets from this article on Malik Allen -
http://www.csnphilly.com/ncaa/after-nov ... trepreneurPerhaps he could heed the advice of many of his teammates and coaches and get into coaching. Or maybe he could use his basketball knowledge to become a broadcaster. Or he could always follow the path of other ex-athletes and start a foundation or charity.
When the Villanova grad was with the Orlando Magic from 2010 to 2011 –- his last stop in an NBA career that spanned a full decade -– some teammates noticed the professional way in which Allen carried himself and said they expected him to own his own business some day.
“I was serious about my job,” Allen said. “I had to be because my athleticism wouldn’t carry me for 10 years in the league.”
Allen certainly used his strong work ethic and professional demeanor to forge a successful career in the NBA. After starring for Villanova under Steve Lappas from 1996 to 2000, the 6-foot-10 forward went undrafted in 2000 and began his career in the ABA. But in 2001, Allen was signed by the Miami Heat, where he played for the next four years. He then became a journeyman, suiting up for the Charlotte Bobcats (2005), Chicago Bulls (2005-2007), New Jersey Nets (2007-08), Dallas Mavericks (2008), Milwaukee Bucks (2008-09), Denver Nuggets (2009-10) and Orlando Magic (2010-11).
“I loved playing,” Allen said. “The NBA lifestyle is what you make of it, but I loved playing. It always came down to loving to play and compete.
“I miss the game. I miss it every day. But at the same time, I like being able to be at home.”

Isiah Repellant for Stan and co? Nix testified against Isiah during his Knicks Sexual Harassment lawsuit, confirming what the woman was claiming. He was fired by Dolan and the Knicks shortly after - for not closing ranks.

Are we still looking at Tim Hardaway? I read we were in talks to add Tim Hardaway to the staff as well. He has SVG connections from his days with the Heat.

^Interesting. I assume Q and Allen are in lesser player development roles, whereas Hardaway is going to be on the bench with Stan, Malone and the rest.
Expect to hear a lot of Tim's unfortunate anti-gay remarks bubble up - how he hated gays and would look to have any gay player cut off his team.
I know it would never happen as he's too ingrained in the Heat org, but Alonzo Mourning would be ONE HELLUVA mentor/big man coach/role model for Drummond.

I'm sure he'd love to have Rudy on his team.
See what I did there?
See?

yeah i don't get the THJ love either. i mean, the kid had a pretty good rookie year, but the national attention he gets is a little ridiculous. give me KCP over THJ any day of the week.
