Somewhat surprising with the very anti-gay comments he's made in the past.

^To be fair that was back in 2007 and he's seemingly had a legit change of heart. He was the first signee in Florida's Repeal Same Sex Marriage Ban petition, called to congratulate and support Jason Collins when he publicly came out last year, has spoke on more than a few LGBT Equality issues/rallies.
2007 was only seven years ago, but LGBT support has skyrocketed greatly in those years. A whole lot of folks have changed their minds on the issue - a lot of it from him was macho culture ignorance, lockerrrom talk and never really thinking about the issue other than thinking about how icky he thought the actual sex act to be.

My favorite non-Pistons player of all time joining the Pistons? What a random, out-of-the-blue, dream come true for me.

Surprising to the intolerant people who think it's evil to have a view that's opposed to same-sex marriage.

Who cares if he hates gays or not? As long as he can help us get back into the playoffs, that's all I care about.

Who said he was evil?
I simply don't like him for that reason. And I don't see why anyone should have to apologize for that perfectly reasonable position.
To be clear, Tim Bug's comments were NOT about marriage. He took the position that gays shouldn't be allowed to be in the NBA and should not be on this Earth. He also used the word "homophobic" to describe himself.

Have to believe Hardaway will be tasked with being the Jennings Whisperer.

Ya I hate when people bring peoples personal life into the equation. We should focus on how Tim can help the team

It's funny, if I made ranting comments like this against another race, against gays, or against another religion like Islam or something I would be banned. I guess it's completely okay to ridicule Christians on realgm though. Not that I'm offended, just pointing out the obvious double standard that occurs so often on this site.
As far as TIm Hardaway goes, I have no idea what he will bring to the table. Same with QRich or Malik Allen. I think we will have to simply wait and see before making a judgement call on them.

I was just purposely exaggerating. Most often when I make ANY sort of anti homosexual comment I'm branded a bigot for holding those beliefs, even if I state them in the nicest, most civilized manner. Tim's comments were a bit harsh imo but I don't like the idea of blackballing a person just because they shared their beliefs that weren't so popular years ago. People can disagree with him but he shouldn't be denied a position in the NBA based on those comments. And yes, I should've specified his comments were related to homosexuality in general, not same sex marriage, but my view point remains the same regardless.

I don't like this move at all. I don't care how great of a player he was, he's a self admitted bigot. Donald Sterling gets his team taken away for his beliefs, and during all that fallout, we hire a guy who goes on a rant about how gay people shouldn't exist.

I wouldn't frame my thoughts quite like you just did in such a satirical fashion, but I love Jesus and would like for you too. And no doubt, I would encourage you to read the Bible which speaks clearly to us about our need to be in right standing before God the righteous judge.
That being said, I sure we can agree Tim Hardaway has already been dealt with for his comments on homosexuals. And yes he used the word homophobic to describe himself...six years after those comments he became an activist for gay rights. At some point we need to just move on right?
