Greg Monroe S & T scenarios...

If Moose really doesn't want to return as rumored and SVG feels he want to move on from him, what would be a nice, but realistic, trade we could do with him? With some of his former suitors now seemingly out of the question (aka wizards, pelicans), what teams would want him?

My teams would be the Knicks, Sixers, Celtics, Nuggets, Lakers, Suns, and maybe the Rockets.

Here are some trade possibilities with some of those teams:
(Disclaimer: I didn't check into salary stuff, so may need to throw in some additional players to make trade work.)

Celtics receive: Monroe
Pistons receive Sullinger, Green

Sixers receive : Monroe
Pistons receive: Thad Young, someone

Nuggets receive: Monroe, Singler
Pistons receive: Gallinari, Arthur

Suns receive: Monroe, Jerebko
Pistons recieve: Bledsoe
(Note: with the Lakers and Knicks getting PG's, I'm not sure if any team at this point would be willing to take Jennings)

I like the Suns trade the best and the Celtics trade the 2nd best. What do u guys think?

Can somebody find out for sure if we can trade him with other players or not because I know in years past this wasn't allowed.

With Celtics I would rather do Monroe for Olynyk, Green and LAC '15 1st rd pick.

Thanks for your contributions tfdp22... maybe a mod can add this to the other S&T thread.

Best option is Datome&Monroe for Millsap, but I don't really know if Atlanta will go for it, it will be really good for Detroit though.

Because Milsap in the last year of his contract works here how? He's not going to want to come off the bench in his contract year, and thus we're in the same situation with Smith/Monroe but with Smith/Milsap BUT Milsap is five years older and undersized to play center.

This
Surely it makes the most sense to cover our biggest weakness which is the SF spot. No point getting another starting calibre big just puts us right back to square one.

Millsap is a pretty good shooter, Smith-Millsap-Drummond could actually work with the right coach.

Still don't see how Smith would fit in that front court

Maybe me eyes are playing tricks on me, but was the intention to list the Knicks in any S&T proposal?

Of course, the damned CA won't let capped out teams like New York execute a trade for this guy. Trust me, the Knicks would love Monroe, overpay him of course, but in reality Monroe seems to be the "Big" PF/C that is 24 years old, which is substantially younger than Marc Gasol, his free agent "Market" is probably a bit higher than what Detroit offered 5 years at $60 million unless there was an opt out in 2 years when the cap is supposed to his $80 million per team—this will give Greg even more incentive to be the best Big Man in the league or second best behind your existing pivot.

Is Greg's problem playing with Josh Smith? Is it the HC? Or was it the money? Andre seems to want him back so you never know what Greg is doing by signing the Q.O. He may be having second thoughts about playing somewhere else?

Do you really want Bledsoe at the max salary? This kid think he is worth more than Gary Payton.

Trade idea from ATL:

Millsap
K Korver
Adreian Payne

for Greg Monroe
and K Caldwell-Pope.

Korver would open up so much for you guys' offense. Millsap is a starting PF that is All-Star caliber AND meshes perfectly with Drummond. Adreian is a local guy who can fit with Drummond long term and create some buzz with the fanbase.

You guys get to contend for a playoff spot immediately AND keep us nice young front court player for the future.

Thoughts?

KCP is a dealbreaker.

Hell yeah I would do this trade. We would be a be a great outside shooting team and still have a deep front court. Its better than losing Monroe for nothing

I'd hate to lose KCP... but I make that trade. As much as I believe in KCP's future, there's still an element of risk in his career. He looked like a new man in Orlando, but that doesn't mean it will carry over into games that mean something.

I can't believe ATL would trade Korver, though. He's been sooooo valuable to them and is playing amazing ball right now. Trading Sap and Korver (and Payne, who I like) for two young guys would be a huge step back in the short term for Atlanta. Would they really do that?

ATL would indeed be hesitant to move KK in a deal. He's probably the most beloved Hawk player in years. But our GM is getting desperate to bring in a top player and/or serviceable Center to pair with Horford. We traded away our 1st rounder from LAST season in a salary dump in June, and with the extra $5 million we signed....no one of note.

We got Kent Bazemore and Thabo Sefolosha in Free Agency. While 'Melo, Pau, Deng paid us no attention at all. We are a treadmill team, so this would be a drastic move to attempt and jumpstart our rebuild.

KCP and Teague gives us (potentially) a top back court duo in the future. Monroe and Horford gives us a top front court immediately.

But, Korver would indeed be the breaking point for many fans and members of the front office.

Also...I really like KCP. Thanks for the feedback.

That's a nice trade. But I don't know about adding KCP to the equation. If you wanted to take out Payne and KCP and add Singler on our side, I'd probably do it.
