NYK DET Trade idea

Post#1 » by Southern Piston » Thu Aug 14, 2014 8:21 pm

I'm not a huge fan of JR Smith, and I know he's another knucklehead, but I think if you got KCP, Meeks, Butler, JR Smith filling all minutes at the 2/3; with our big three holding down the inside, SVG would have the talent to contend in the East. I mean he would have to pull the absolute best from Jennings, Smith, and Smith as well as the rest of them. But it would be a two year gamble really, with what we have now we don't really have the talent to contend. SVG can wait for the space to clear and just focus on coaching.

Singler, Datome, and Bynum for JR Smith (maybe a 2nd rd pick)

We shorten our roster and become
Min
Jennings 32
KCP 24
Butler 16
Smith 32
Drummond 32

Augestine 16
Meeks 28
JR Smith 28

Monroe 32

Good defense, hot 3pt shooting potential, anythings possible

I would rather see Singler starting at the 3 than JR backing up either position.

Man, you're going to be lucky if get out of here alive with that suggestion

I don't like it because then only one real SF is playing in the rotation at the 3, and he's at 15 minutes. So we'd constantly be undersized. I don't know, it could be a problem.

Singler just works I don't know why. It's not his athleticism. It's not his skills. It's just his results. Why give up on what he can be for another 2 guard? Singler and Butler at the 3 are better than 3 2 guards.

I'll do this trade. Singler is trash and he'll probably only see about 15 minutes off the bench next season. Let me tell Dumars to advise this trade.

We don't need another knucklehead JSmith.

So you want the other terrible/low IQ Smith by trading average to good IQ role players?

Only if you think the NBA will change rule to allow 3 balls on the court at all times.

JR Smith and Amare for Josh Smith and Jennings

Drummond/Monroe
Amare/Monroe/Jerebko
JRSmith/Singler/Butler
KCP/Meeks
Augustine/Not Bynum?

That would be nice.

They need the interior defense now that Melo is getting ready to play SF in Phil's triangle since he slimmed down for the part. Amare is an expiring and Smith is awful but occasionally good.

I'd do Josh & Jennings for Amare straight up. I don't want JR in return. Just give us a reset on Dumars more recent blunder.

PG: Augustin/Bynum
SG: KCP/Meeks
SF: Butler/Singler/Datome
PF: Monroe/Jerebko
C: Drummond/Amare/Gray

Pick up a cheap 3rd string PG and deactivate Gray or Datome.

Uh. Absolutely. Except Amare would be off the bench. Aside from the fact that it'd be a waste to start him for one season and then start over with Monroe there, but I don't think his body would hold up to a season of starting.

I can't even fathom Jennings, and the two JSmiths on the court at the same time, or what kind of heart conditions in SVG that would induce.
Tom Gores' Securus faced a class action lawsuit in 2024. The company engaged in a "quid pro quo kickback scheme" with county jails in Michigan which banned in-person visits in order to maximize revenue from voice and video calls.

This was actually assuming Monroe would be gone after next year and Amare would be a much better fit with Drummond, much better.

So now the ghost of Amare is a better fit than Monroe? Amare who has a career assist rate of barely 1 per game, Amare who's athleticism is non existent, Amare who is 11 years older than Drummond, Amare who's defense makes Monroe's look like Ben Wallace, Amare who hasn't played more than 23 mins per game in the last 2 years.

For one year he's a much better fit mostly because he can shoot which makes him similar to what we need at the position long term. I also expect him to have a very good year and play 25-30mpg.
