Looks about right to me. Although, they rated Jennings as an 80-something last year, and he should have been ranked in the 60's.

Although it's still very interesting, 2K overall ratings don't tell you much about a player.

For Andre, for example, I assume that 83 comes from out-of-this-world athletic ratings for a center, which will greatly boost your overall. Unless the ratings guys are completely delusional, we know he'll be awful from anything but close range, and he can't shoot free throws or pass (according to his assist numbers, anyway). I'm also curious about his awareness ratings, which make a big difference in overall. Given that he's 83, they can't be terrible, but they probably should be.

I'll still want him on my association team, of course. :-)

@DETermination: Good thread. I can't wait to start my association mode on PS4. I didn't like the MyGM mode last year at all.

I expect to see Monroe, Jennings, and Smith all rated in the 80's again. I could see KCP being rated 74, Meeks being rated 69, and Singler rated 68.

@ImHeisenberg: Jennings deserves every bit of that 80+ rating. 8-) (You know I'm a big Jennings fan)

There's a new formula that the developers are using to determine player ratings. It's very possible that Jennings takes a dive into the low 70's if not lower.

Lmao if Monroe and Jennings and Smith are all still 80s too, then we will have a team with 4/5 80's that couldn't manage 33 wins last year.

The Pistons have been overrated for about a decade. Mostly because one of the producers (Rob Jones?) is a big Pistons fan. I'm not complaining.

Drummond spoiled 2Ks slow revealing of ratings by tweeting it out him self, Lol.

lol Chauncey was like a 82 overall on 2k14 and they never changed it, every time I started a pistons franchise on the gm mode they had Chauncey starting because of his overall. I also thought it was funny on 2k14 that Gigi Datome had a higher overall than Kyle Singler.

He's guaranteed to be above 75 at this point. 2K Sports are periodically releasing ratings by the bunch. I made a spreadsheet listing the players as we go along. So far they're in numerical order from lowest to highest, with the exception of a few leaks.

is it just me or do the player's overalls seem a lot more normalized? like the really bad players are rated in the high 60's, all the below to above average are in the 70's, good players are in the 80's and there's less elite players in the 90's.

is it just me?

I thought a few players on the Pistons were overrated actually. Seeing Kyle Singler as a 74 and better than Meeks, and KCP was surprising. Seeing Will Bynum and JJ as a 70 and 71 also seemed high. Tony Mitchell is straight awful, like low 60s awful. Maybe it just seems off because I view Drummond as better than an 83 (probably closer to 85-87), which would make everything seem more normalized.

I wonder if you'll actually be able to run a pick and roll this year against the AI? They clog the paint, and can still recover on your shooters if you pass to them.

That's my biggest gripe with 2K, their precognitive AI who can steal your pass with their back turned to you and NEVER miss a half open 3.

The dev team has revamped the overall rating system this year.

I believe the simplest way to describe player overalls is this:

If player A is excellent at one attribute, he'll be a 70; 80 if two, 90 if more, etc. If a player is somewhat in the middle of the pack, then they'll probably be in the 70's, and so-on. However, the overall ratings are relative to the position of each player. Drummond may be an 83 as a center, but a 75 as a power-forward due to the lack of outside scoring.

I thought the P&R was quite simple in the PS4/Xbox One versions of the game due to big man always coming out to do a soft hedge or hang back to slow dribble penetration. The defending guard would never rotate to the big rolling to the basket. This led to a barrage of half-court alley-oops from both users and the A.I. controlled teams if I didn't control the big man involved in the screen.

Here's a visual representation of 2K14's horrid P&R defense:

And, myself abusing the P&R against an online opponent.

I generally don’t have an issue with initial ratings but more so with the grades that are assigned to players as “potential”. Too many players have A’s & B’s so after 3 seasons or so you get real life busts become all-star level players.
