Monroe trades (teams most likely to least likely accept a trade)

OKC - for Perkins, McGary / Adams, 2015 1st round pick

Heat - McRoberts

Warriors - for Barnes / Ezeli

Spurs - for Danny Green

Denver - Monroe, Datome, Singler, Bynum for McGee, Chandler

Boston - for Jeff Green (Monroe + Jerebko)

Brooklyn - Monroe, Jennings, Smith for Deron Williams, Teletovic

None.

Trade Josh Smith instead.

While the Denver deal may seem unlikely, it helps both teams.

Why for Denver?
Denver saves nearly 3-4M this year, Monroe is better than Hickson, and Denver gets out of McGee's 12M deal one year early bringing the total savings on this deal to almost 20M

Why for Detroit?
We finally get a starting SF, satisfying one of our biggest needs and the deepest desires of many posters on RealGM, also gets rid of excess roster junk and allows us to trim our roster down to size

Jennings / Augustin
KCP / Meeks
Chandler / Butler - Martin
Smith / Jerebko
Drummond / McGee

None because no front office would be dumb enough to deal for a player without bird rights for a couple months rental and give up any assets worth us having. This isn't the MLB where teams sacrifice their farm system for a shot at the World Series. If any team wants him, they'll throw him an offer when he hits the open market. Take a look at what other centers and power forwards are going to be FAs next year, and tell me why teams are going to be dying to trade for Monroe?

There are teams desperate enough especially when you are not giving up anything.

In the case of OKC, if they just give us McGary and Perkins they win and it is worth it.

Same with Denver, what do they lose, they save 4M this year and 12M off McGee's deal

You're really way off in what value you think Monroe holds. We'd be lucky to get Perkins and a 2nd. And no way Gores adds that much salary to obtain a late pick that has no value.

Same thing with Denver. We lose that deal horribly. We get McGee? That's terrrrrible for us. Paying 12m/yr for a backup moron?

You guys have no clue.

McGary was the #21 pick, OKC gladly throws him in if we offer Monroe and Bynum for Perkins.

As for the Denver deal...Datome, Bynum, Singler, Monroe are already making the same amount as McGee this year anyways

We are paying the extra 7M for Chandler which is not bad for a starting SF, basically what Ariza got this summer

Would you rather start Singler - Smith - Drummond with Monroe off the bench and lose Monroe for nothing or would you rather start Chandler - Smith - Drummond with McGee off the bench?

We do not lose the Denver deal by any means. Go look at the free agents in 2015 there are no quality small forwards available

In the Denver deal we get a starting SF, consolidate 6M worth of trash contracts into a bench big in McGee, and both contracts expire in 2 years same as Jennings.

In the end SVG should have given Monroe a huge 2 year deal either 14-15M per so we could have traded him after this season if it didnt work

I don't think there would be any way for OKC to resign Monroe, so I doubt they would add anything to the deal. We'd probably have to find a team willing to give up something for Perkins expiring contract. Could be possible.

I honestly don't think Denver would give up Chandler when Monroe can just walk at the end of the year. Chandler is an important part of their rotation.

Portland would probably be the most realistic destination (we already know there is mutual interest) but they wouldn't give up a lot. I'm guessing they would offer us somebody like Meyers Leonard. Crappy return, but he's big and young, so if we are out of the playoff hunt it could be worth a roll of the dice.

OKC could work to resign Monroe but that's part of the gamble

OKC gives up two late 1st rounders, McGary and 2015 pick for a legit chance at a title

If they win it all or go to the Finals dont be surprised if KD says enough is enough and requests Monroe to be resigned to a fair deal unlike how the front office and ownership handled Harden

As for Portland, would you rather have McGary/Perkins for 1 year and then find another back up C or would you rather have Thomas Robinson-Victor Claver / Meyers Leonard for a year.

Monroe isnt a dummy,he signed the QO for 2 reasons,to get a max contract (whether he gets it or not or is worth it or not,the point is he and his agent think this),and the second is he has his own destinations in mind.So det would have to find a team he wants to sign with and convince that team that he will sign with them next year.Thats just to much to hope happens to get rid of moose,I think he ends up here for the season and then has all the cards in his hands for next season.

Yeah, I'd like Monroe, but OKC will only have like 4 mil in cap space next year no matter what, so even if they had him, he's gone unless he resigns for literally less than his QO. Good luck w/ the whole situation guys, hope it ends alright for you.

Monroe was a restricted free agent and multiple teams had enough cap space to make s reasonable offer - or more.

NO ONE offered him squat!

His agent chased sign and trades - came up empty!

Monroe is quality - but teams are not ready to pony up for him. Time will tell if that changes

There were reports that teams without cap space were offering him big deals, but Detroit couldn't find the right S&T. It was common knowledge that Detroit was going to match any offer he signed, so team would have been scared off.

He won't get what the Pistons were rumored to have offered him, but there will be teams next year that will throw money at him.

He'd have to okay any trade, and in being traded his Bird Rights go up in smoke, so unless the acquiring team has cap space in 2015 off-season they couldn't even re-sign him. I guess teams with cap space could "try it before they buy it" in trading something for him, but it wouldn't be much as they could get him as a UFA next off-season. Maybe get a protected first from Dallas or LAL, to give the acquiring team a leg up in building a relationship with Monroe over the year.

No one is going to trade for an UFA with no bird rights that they can't retain, period.
Plus Monroe has to agree to be traded, it's highly complicated to get a good return for him, probably if you trade him you will get just trash.

what about monroe for payne? atlanta will have the cap space to retain monroe next season, and they get to see how far a trio of all-star caliber bigs can take them this year.

i get it, atlanta could just go and sign moose outright next offseason, but why not take a look at him now? they could potentially make some serious noise in the east's playoff picture this year while still maintaining their financial flexibility in the offseason.

we, on the other hand, gain a very good young player who could be the perfect fit next to drummond in a few years. this would take some of the sting out of monroe's decision.

i looked for quite some time to find a reasonable deal for moose on the QO, and this was the best/only one i could really come up with.
