CHAUNCEY BILLUPS RETIRES

One of my all time favourite Pistons and future hall of famer has officially retired from the NBA. Sad to see him go but i'm thrilled he didn't join the cavs and be one of Lebrons b*****. He probably retired at a good time, and most importantly... RETIRED A PISTON!!

He didn't really "retire a piston". He retired an unsigned FA....we terminated his contract and he couldn't get picked up by another team so he called it quits. If his plan was to retire all along, he would have announced it before the Pistons cut him.

Great player, huge part of Pistons history, and I'd love to have him in the front office sometime in the future.

Kinda glad he decided to hang it up though. He's been a shell of himself the past couple years. It really changes the way you look at a player when they keep trying to stretch their career out when they're nothing close to what they used to be.

Hopefully jersey retirement at the palace in the near future. Chauncey and Ben are both deserving.

Wonder if Drum will get a new jersey number when Mr. Big Shot's #1 gets retired.

It would be really cool if at the retirement ceremony, Chancy hands Drummond a new jersey as #1 goes to the rafters

He brought a championship to the Motor City.

A true professional, great player and respectable individual.

It was an honour watching him play!

All the best with future endeavours.

I guess it was a hard decision to make and obviously that takes time, but i wish he did it at the end of the season as a piston. Ohh well, he'll always be a piston anyway. Classy guy with a big future ahead of him whether he goes the front office route or coaching.

He was a part of a lot of great Piston moments. Congratulations on carving out a wonderful career, Chauncey.

To me that doesn't really matter. His career stats will show that his final season was as a Piston. Ill take him retiring a UFA over a Cav anyday, lol.

It doesn't matter to me how many teams he played for: Chauncey is a Piston!

Here's hoping someone can put together a highlight package and put it on YouTube

One of my all time favorite Pistons. So glad he didn't tarnish our memories of him by ring chasing with Cleveland. I wish SVG would give him a front office job, I think he's got some potential in that capacity.

Potential Cleveland Cavs FO gig probably no longer there either with James back and basically the GM. Chauncey needs to hope Dumars gets a gig somewhere soon to get his opportunity/foot in the front office door. I guess he could maybe get a FO gig in Denver, but it will be a lower level type where he has to work his way up the food chain.

Hopefully, he ends up on the bench or in the front office somewhere. I'm wishing the best of luck to the greatest Piston I have ever got to watch. While Growing up I wanted to play PG because of him.

He would have my HOF vote :).

He'd get mine as well. What I find interesting is his individual achievements are more or less views as team achievements. On the GB someone made a comment to the effect of "he's one of the oddest finals MVP ever." "He's the product of the team" was another gem I saw.

Dude was a beast, and deserves every bit of HOF consideration he will get.

Maybe I'm an especially tough critic of players on my favorite team, but I think those comments are fairly accurate, and he's probably on the bubble for a HoF spot. He was the product of a great team. He was talented no doubt, but if you look at the list of Finals MVPs, he does stick out. Michael Jordan, Shaq, Tim Duncan, Kobe, Dirk, Tony Parker, Dwayne Wade. Those are all easily a tier or two above Chauncey.

That team won because we had incredible defense and it was an entire team effort all over the court. Something like that has only been matched by the Spurs last season, and Kawhi won MVP, which would be on par with Chauncey IMO.
