tl;dr
Bucks won, they got an elite 3 point shooter for nothing (who would go insanely high on this current market) and Knight had a arguably slightly better season than Jennings but with a better contract and younger.

Also, the advanced metrics between them are interesting too.

Knight isnt a PG but hes still a better player then Jennings.

I realize the video was just posted, but is this news? Knight was a better fit based on his potential, Jennings was a RFA waiting for anyone to make an offer, and we handed Khris over for nothing.

I'd love to see Brandon Knight play under Stan Van Gundy as well.

As of now we lost cuz of the inclusion of Middleton.

However, the verdict is still out on the Brandon for Brandon swap. Ill take Jennings' skill set over Knight's, but would take Knight's head and demeanor over Jennings'.

SVG will be Jennings' first real coach and Augustin will be his first real competition. Let's see if any of those factors improve his weaknesses.

I disagree with calling Middleton "elite". Just because he got minutes on one of the worst teams in the league that didn't have a legit SF to challenge him for those minutes doesn't make him "elite". He needs to prove he can actually beat someone out, and score in meaningful games.

Same thing for Knight. Everyone on this board figured that when he played for us, he was, at best, a 6th man combo guard for a good team. I still feel that way.

Jennings - athletically, he can certainly be much better than Knight. But I'm worried about his work ethic and BBIQ. I want to see how both of those characteristics are this year under SVG. I think we can't judge the "winner" of this trade yet until we see how Jennings plays this season.

To say knight is better than jennings is straight up false. Knight isn't a point guard.

Dumars gave up a top ten pick and a decent bench player in order to pay Jennings 9M a year

I dont get how anyone can not hate Joe's guts for the way he screwed our team over, this year we will be paying 17M for Joe D's mistakes (Jerebko, Bynum, Jennings, Datome)

Still cant believe people respect Joe D on these boards

We got clobbered.

Knight and Middleton aren't as great as some of the more dramatic on this board make them out to be, but I'd rather have either one of them than Brandon Jennings, much less both.

Truth

Neither team "won" anything - games included.

Jennings though has the most talent, and when you have two teams attempting to slug themselves out of the cesspool, you take a chance on talent. And it didn't work out for either one.

Jennings is at the turning spot for his career arch. He's got a great coach again and is either about to become a career-backup or a top third one in this league.

Like most of you, career backup fits the established facts, but I'm still a little hopeful.

I just can't wait till Brandon Jennings plays great this year just so all of you can realize how wrong you were about him.

There are no winners in this trade.

Yeah, current GM Jeff Bower got totally fleeced...

Giving up two promising young players on rookie contracts who are at least rotation player for the right to pay Jennings 8 mil per season is still an epic failure.

I'd much rather have Jennings than Knight... as a PG, anyway. Giving away Middleton makes this deal a definite loss, though.

Speaking of Middleton...

Joe D's history of finding gems in the draft at the 25th pick or later and then giving them away for essentially nothing is truly amazing. He's the lucky/skillful guy that's always picking winners at the track and then letting his profit fall out of the hole in his (head) pocket.

If Martin can keep shooting the 3 at the same percentage that he's put up recently, we just got the same production for more or less the same price. Nothing lost, nothing gained. You guys act like he's Kyle Korver or Dell Curry or something.

I would have rather we just signed Jennings outright and kept Knight as the 6th man off the bench. Knight could probably fill Jodie Meeks' role as a shooter, and he brings a defensive presence at PG when needed. But if we're choosing between the two, I'll take a player that can run an offense 9 times out of 10 before I take a guy who doesn't have a clue. Jennings>Knight.

I know it's easy to hate on Jennings but he is definitly better than Knight
