Jeff Green

I think we got to much baggage. I was wondering if anyone thinks we could deal Singler, Jarebko, and Bynum for J Green. I'm sure someone thought of this before. But I would think there might be a shot. Singler has some value to replace him in Boston at the three. Getting Bynum and Jarebko are expiring contracts giving them more space room for next summer. Bynum is a valuable piece until Rondo comes back. I would guess this value would only be good for Boston as the season went on but I would offer it now to shed the roster. I think he would be the perfect fit, and we could let Butler go over the summer and use that money to try to resign Monroe if we need to. He won't be needed anymore if we have Green, a SF pick, and the others. Even if we lost Monroe we would have a three, and could go after someone like Amir Johnson and maybe not loose to much.
I think I would also deal the same three for G wallace if Boston though us this coming years 2nd rd pick as well. I'd rather trim the roster to keep the rest, if we get a decent 2nd rd pick.

Boston is going to ask for way to much for Green and even if we acquire him, he's not going to be the solution at SF. So we give up assets for a SF that is minimally better than whats on our roster. Smith for Green is as far as most would go

If Green gets traded he'll likely be dealt after or as a part of a deal involving Rondo. Until the Rondo situation is dealt with I doubt they make any other trades.

Trading for Gerald Wallace is insane. Crash is done and has 2 years and $21 millions left on his deal. If we were to trade expiring contracts for Wallace the Celtics would have to include a weakly protected first. They aren't going to do that as they are far more likely to force Wallace on what ever team Rondo gets dealt to.

What makes Jeff Green more than a quality backup SF?

Because Piston fans are grading him on a curve compared to the SF's we have.

If they would do either, I don't think we're really loosing anything. Maybe the deal for Wallace is a loss, but not by much I don't think becuase of the roster clog it couldn't cost us much. Like what a game or two realistically non of the pieces are going to make that much of a difference. A good 2nd rd pick would serve us better than too many spare parts that we will end up buying out. G Wallace could provide 12 smart minutes of play. We still would have Butler, Datome, and Martin. Jarebko is probably gonna have a good year, but again what is really the net loss if he's not here.

Ainge is a greedy SOB, that's why the Nets are the only team to make a big trade with them in the last few years.

Detroit shouldn't pay whatever Boston is wanting for him. They probably want an unprotected first round pick and KCP.

Mediocre SFs are a dime a dozen - look at our roster!

Green solves nothing IMO

I guarantee we'd give you guys Gerald Wallace, probably even for Josh Smith.. In our discussions, Green to DET usually meant Monroe would have to come back east, and we were divided on that idea- some loved it and thought we'd need to include more, others thought it was fair, and a few thought it was an overpay.

I think Green would be a good player to build around Drummond with and I could easily see him playing a Rashard Lewis type role for this team. I think there is a good chance he will opt out, so we may as well wait until next offseason.

Take a minute and compare Green to Singler or any other mediocre SF in the league, and he doesn't stand head and shoulders above any of them. But he gets paid close to 10m/yr

Sounds like all of you are on some Bill Simmons **** lmao. I wouldn't trade Monroe for an overpaid scrub.

Jeff is better than every SF we have on our roster. Our SF's are horrible, there not even mediocre.

Green has a deservedly bad rep as an underachiever, but he's still a very useful and good player. He's frustrating because everyone thinks he could be much better than he is, but who he is is not bad. And Monroe's "better" but you guys don't have much leverage- he may walk, his Bird rights won't transfer to a new team, you have a logjam in the front court, and Greg's a great stat player but his defense is mediocre, he's a bad jump shooter, and he's really not as good a low post scorer as people think, if you look at the analytics- gets a lot of baskets in transition and cutting to the basket.

Green can hit 3s, he's a good defender, physical.. and can put up some big scoring nights- the kind of guy who averages 16 by scoring 30 one night and 2 the next, and no one can figure out why. But in the right role he's an excellent second or third option...

Pretty much says it all, Jeff Green does not take us over the hill, 34% is bad from the 3 point line, we need floor spacers.

Green is better than all the SFs on our roster - but as you said our SFs are horrible!

That doesn't mean you give up assets and trade for Green though.

Green is a reasonable player with a bloated contract. No team should rush to add him

One of the major reasons I want Green is because he is one of the few SF's available that actually fits what we need. If we don't go after Green then who else should we pursue? The other player that comes to mind is taking a risk on Harrison Barnes since he's stuck behind Iggy on the bench. There simply aren't that many options out there that are worth going after now or in FA next offseason. What alternate options would you propose?

I wonder what it would take to get Barnes. Warriors seem too value Iggy and Green more at SF now and they probably wont be looking to pay him when it comes. Maybe a package around Monroe and Barnes would work for both parties. I doubt GS could pay to keep Moose unless they did some serious roster shuffling but he would definitely help them contend for a title now. Moose would also have to agree but its a thought.

I threw that idea out before Monroe to the QO. I doubt Monroe would agree to that trade and I'm not sure I would want to do it at this point. Monroe will be a critical for us making the playoffs and Barnes hasn't put it all together yet. I do think GSW would have money to resign him though since the cap is increasing next offseason (I'm not sure though since I'm not familiar with GSW's cap situation). I would be interesting in packaging expirings that can help them (Jerebko, Singler) and a first rounder but I'm not sure GSW would be into that since they want to win now.
