Feel like we missed an opportunity with Evan Turner.

He signed for 6.7M over two years in Boston with Jeff Green already on the roster. Obviously, he was desperate for any team to sign him so he could get paid.

SVG should have signed him for the money he gave Martin and Butler (5.6M).

We could have offered Turner 11M over two years with the second year being a team option. Singler and Datome would have backed him up. This year he would have received 5.5M, very close to the 6.7M he is making over two seasons in Boston. If he plays well and we pick up his option he still is 4.5M richer than if he signed with the Celtics.

Worst case scenario, he sucks and expires after this year with Singler picking up the slack and starting (which is most likely happening this year anyways)

Best case scenario, Turner plays well and we have the leverage of picking up his player option, renegotiating his contract, or moving him in a trade with Monroe for a bigger piece later in the year.

The Butler/Martin moves were a waste of money when combined they are no more talented than Singler. Veteran presence is overrated as Van Gundy already has the team under his finger and it's just the preseason. We didnt need to throw away almost 6M in a position of need for leadership.

No. Detroit needs perimeter players who can shoot otherwise the spacing wont work with our bigs. ET simply would be a lousy fit

No, Turner is clearly a bad fit. The last thing we need is another high-usage, low-efficiency player who isn't a very good shooter. There is a reason nobody was offering him a starting spot or starters money.

No. Turner is a ball dominant 3 with a spotty outside shot and an inflated ego.

I don't think adding turner would have been a wise roster move.

the pistons have enough players that can handle the ball (Jennings, smith, Monroe in the post, Drummond somewhat) so essentially all you need to surround those guys with is players who can shoot and play defense (at least try on defense). from what I know of turner he does neither of those things.

Nope. We need an SF who can actually create and SHOOT.

I'm shocked he has lasted this long in the league. If he wasn't the #2 pick I have a feeling he would have been gone long ago.

I've never watched him play and though "Man I want him on my team!"

He's not a good fit at SF. Can't shoot well, and aside from the Meeks injury, which we couldn't have predicted, we don't have room in the backcourt to fit another mediocre player.

He was a phenomenal college player because his game fit the college game perfectly. He's kind of lost in the middle in the NBA, jack of all trades, master of none, which given his size, doesn't really work for him.

He's also a lockerroom negative by most accounts, something we REALLY don't need right now.

I don't want Jeff Green at all, but I'd still rather have Green than Turner. Turner sucks.

If you had the absolute privilege of watching that **** show of a preaseason game last night between PHI and BOS...you could answer your own question. I witnessed this guy commit 4-5 TO's by himself in the 1st quarter alone..There is a reason no one wanted him.

Oh wow!! I watched a significant portion of that game! I was astonished seeing how BAD those teams were. The game was a sloppy summer league game. It was like watching college ball but with more turnovers because of the 24 shot clock. When I saw that alone, I said we're not a bottom Lottery team. Celtics and Sixers are going to be the worst teams in the East.

KCP is what Turner should've been from the start. KCP is making a run to be the best in his draft class. You know people are still sore from not drafting Trey. But KCP is showing up and he might be a great pick up. So far, he's doing it. I hope he keeps growing like this. He's professional.

Hahaha,funny you mention that,god was it a trainwreck for the sixers.At least the c had 111 pts to the sixers 91.Like one of the commenters said,the celtics were doing simple basic defense/offense system and the sixers seemed like they havent even had the basic training you get in preseason.

I dont think theres anyone around here that still wishes we should have taken trey(and I was one of the biggest at the time).I wouldnt write off trey so soon either,he has looked good this preseason also.

No, he sucks. He's a gunner who can't shoot and is a minus defender, doesn't fit Stan's system at all.

The additions of Butler and Martin addressed culture though.

This ain't NBA Live or 2K - SVG might have the team under his thumb but how do you think that happens, or stays that way?
