Stan Van and Co have no interest in him because they could have traded for him - Denver would have made it known he was available for cheap, say a future second rounder, and Detroit had the cap space necessary to be able to fit him in - we would have had to cut two players from our current roster is all.

I'm not opposed to this, who would we cut is the question.

And even if Denver did make him available for cheap, maybe we thought we could just sign him outright and save the assets.

We should absolutely try to nab him.

We've already got 16 players on the roster unfortunately. I wonder if there's some contract out clause for Gray due to his medical condition or SVG could just buy him out? Mitchell and Datome are on the trade/chopping block also.

He's not that athletic after tearing his ACL. He's got long arms enabling him to dunk and block shots without jumping very high. His huge wingspan also enables him to rebound and gamble on passing lanes.

+ Improved 3PT shooter
+ Potential in catch and shoot from midrange
+ Good rebounder at SF
+ Shot blocking instincts
+ Flashy player

- Inconsistent shooter
- Poor defense (slow feet)
- Doesn't beat his man off the dribble (slow feet)
- Lacks basic fundamentals (like rotating on defense)
- Bad shot selection
- Commitment to the game

He is a PF especially after his ACL problems.

If this was summer league , yes, we are too close to the beginning of the regular season to bring in a player who would be #15 on our team. He's all potential, and doesn't look to be trending towards that

Dude is skilled, and only 21 years old.

Even if he's #15 on the depth chart this season (which I doubt, but just for argument's sake), in 2-3 years time, Singler will be pushing 30 years old and he will be coming into his own as a player. And he's definitely young enough to grow with the younger group of guys here.

He's a SF. Yeah, even guys with ACL injuries in the past are capable of still playing SF afterwards....again, he's only 21 years old. He will heal.

He's a great guy to pair between KCP and Drummond long-term. He's a shooter who has defensive potential.

I mean, we're basically asking ourselves if we're rather have him long-term or guys like Gray, Datome, Mitchell, or likewise....

Personally, I take him and his potential over guys like Mitchell and Datome every day.

Pistons don't need another forward, they need a SG. Should look at bringing Kim English back (recently cut by the Bulls) as some cheap back-up.
It's such a fine line between stupid and clever.

Hmmm if we're talking which combo needs an upgrade, Meeks/KCP or Butler/Singler, I think you'd go with the latter.

I don't see why we'd rush to get Quincy but surely he can't be worse than Gray or Datome?

i think we should definitely look at this prospect he has alot of potential and he can hit threes which we really need from the 3 spot. get rid of datome and mitchell and bring this kid to detroit. heres a highlight vid of him from 2014

Hes not so much better that it would make sense to cut someone to possibly hand him a spot. Miller got cut because Alonzo Gee seemed a better fit. If we can get Miller to play for Grand Rapids, sure. Hes not worth claiming or anything like that.

We definitely could use a long, athletic, sharp-shooting 21 year old SF to groom right about now....
