He is cleared to play tomorrow and will plAY 18 -20 MINUTES

Im very excited too see him play. Simmons says he could have been a lottery pick if it wasnt for the injury, Which says alot considering how deep that draft was. If he really does perform that well it will help ease the pain of that stupid trade causing us to lose our pick.

this is pretty exciting actually. Dinwiddie is such an unknown at this point. Hopefully he fairs well because we could use him at SG

He hasn't played in a real game in a lot of months. He was injured last winter. It's likely going to take him awhile to get into rhythm, and he also has to adapt to the NBA game without having a normal workout regimen since his injury, and without being able to participate in training camp or the exhibition games.

It might take a whole week before he can be our savior! [cute sarcasm OFF].

The point is, I'm excited to see him too, but it's a hard case to make that he'll be of serious use or effectiveness for us this fall.

The fact that he'll be dressed and will be on the floor with the ball in his hands for a little bit is enough reason to be very excited.

If he is healthy, any chance he steals the point from Jennings at some point this season? An efficient 6'6 point guard is a rare thing. Even if he isn't an all-star caliber point guard, he could cause a ton of problems for opposing defense and help run our offense more smoothly. Not the craziest thought if you really think about it. Not sure Van Gundy is going to like watching Jennings shoot 37% from the field and 32% from the three with his diva attitude.

Jennings better come to play this year.

I'm encouraged by the feedback we're getting about both BJ and DJ. And Van Gundy will keep the pressure on continuously. Any backsliding, especially Jennings, will be met head on. What is intriguing to me is that if both guys succeed and Dinwiddie "gets it" this season, we will have a very nice asset to trade come summer.

It's hard to think about trades when we are so balanced at 4 of the 5 positions, but basically 2 deep. If a sweet small forward were to become available, we can't afford to give up one of our 2-guards since it would just create another hole in our rotation. That could also be dealt with, but it gets complicated.

Jennings gets a full chance to breakthrough in his career - and if he does, we'll reap the benefits big-time, as he's a big-time talent. DJ will be our backup, and at some point, since the guy is a quality backup more than a starting PG in this league, if Dinwiddie proves to be the real deal, or just a good pro, then he'll wiggle his way past DJ into the rotation. That might be more of a next year proposition.

If Jennings can prove himself, he'll want to get paid big-time in two years when his contract is up.

Hopefully we have some real tough decisions to make then. But, I believe that the organizational expectation and hope - the one they'd bet a bit of money on if forced to bet - that Dinwiddie is who they kind of see as the man down the line.

I'm excited to see him play and with Meeks sidelined there's an opening for him to get some time at SG. SVG is looking for another shot creator at the 2 and remarked that none of his forwards are able to create shots, Dinwiddie is def a shot creator. He will be rusty no doubt but I'm still excited

Yeah he should definitely see more playing time now with Bynum gone and Meeks injured. Hopefully he really shows something so he can stay in the rotation this season.

Even if he shows well early in the season - when Meeks returns, Dinwiddie will be squeezed out of PT.

Look, I'm excited about this kid too. But, unless there are injuries at our guard positions, he's at best the 5th guard in the rotation in 2014-15. This is going to be a learning and developmental year for him, and it's more predictable that he'll be a Grand Rapidser than a Detroiter, most of this season.

I'd be thrilled to be proven wrong.

Now, saying that, I'll be disappointed if he doesn't earn serious rotation PT - if not claim the starting job - next season.

Dinwiddie isn't really in the same universe as Jennings when it comes to playmaking or really running an offense- he's ideally a secondary ballhandler. He could further develop, but I wouldn't assume that his long-term position is point guard.

Also, be careful not to overrate his efficiency. While I loved what he did last year, due to his injury he missed most of the games against the best competition on Colorado's schedule- the conference games. His efficiency stats (both A/TO and TS%) are likely inflated a bit because of this. He's a career 38% shooter from 3- that's not certain to be an elite shooter in the NBA, just capable. Jennings is typically capable, but his shot seems to have been regressing.

However, he would not be the first tall, deliberate combo-guard who could shoot coming out of Colorado to become the Piston's starting PG. I have high hopes for him eventually kicking Jennings out.
