Someone's gotta go. Vote for which player (or outcome) you believe will happen.

I'm curious as to what's actually going on with Gray. It's really odd that he was able to pass a physical and then experience these problems, and still hold a roster spot the whole time. Seems like there's something missing here. Which is why I'm leaning towards Mitchell getting cut. But it wouldn't surprise me if Gray does, and then the full story about what's going on with him health-wise finally comes out.

I want Mitchell to stay. His athleticism is too fun to ignore and he can at least be molded maybe.

I'd say Gray

I'd cut both Mitchell and Datome and see if somebody better is cut by other teams. Even if nobody deemed better is cut, I'd rather have the 15th roster spot open for 10-day contract "try outs" throughout the season.

A 10-day contract is just that, a player contract which lasts ten days (or three games, whichever comes later). Teams may sign players to 10-day contracts starting January 5 each season.

I don't disagree with cutting both Datome and Mitchell (neither adds anything to the team and won't play), but it'll be a while before the 10 day contracts are able to be signed.

Going to have to go with Tony Mitchell, the guy looked horrible at summer league and imo isn't good enough to play in the nba.

Fair enough - though we're basically in November, so it would be only a couple months of carrying 14 before we could dip our toes in the 10-day contract market. Also 10-day contracts could be used to entice/lure better players to the D-League team - give the stand outs there a couple 10-day contracts each a season - I don't know how much these 10-day stints are worth money wise, but given standard D-League contracts are a whole $25K per season, a couple call-ups would probably nearly double (even triple) their yearly take home assuming they'd get 10/365ths or 3/82nds of the NBA league minimum contract per stint.

GRIII could be odd man out in Minnesota roster crunch - something I'd be interested in if our 15th spot was a developmental spot. GRIII > Tony Mitchell IMO from a potential eye view. Would have to trade for him though as Philly would surely claim him off waivers. His deal is only partialy guaranteed as well, so no trading a lesser earning player for him will work here. A future second would probably be what it would take.

It's probably going to be Drummond.

I think it's likely to be Mitchell, unless gray's medical issues are bad enough to warrant cutting him.

Datome could get whacked because as the 15th guy he's never going to get any PT and will be in street clothes most of the time (when Meeks is back anyways) and he could get more money back in Euroball and start there - he turned down a Barcelona offer IIRC because he wanted to take another shot at the NBA, but it's not not much of a shot getting DNP-CD's all season and then being a FA with nothing proven and nothing shown - he might be better off back in Euroball for a year of starting minutes and then trying to come over again next off-season or something.

Jordan Hamilton cut by Raps - another player I'd rather have over Mitchell/Datome.

I think Mitchell. He has shown very little and seems to be lazy and unmotivated. I do not believe we will cut
Gigi Datome and Mitchell as both are guarantied deals. If you are going to pay them any way, one of them might just as well be on the team. Unless a great prospect is waived or a trade happens one of the two will probably be on the team. Gray on the other hand, will depend totally on his health. If he can get healthy he is an extra big, if not, we might be able to get an injury exemption for him.

Now announcement/decision won't be made until tomorrow - which is also the roster set deadline day. Waiting until the absolute last minute makes me think they're working on something. Minnesota didn't make their final cut yet either.

Edited to add - Another possibility could be they're waiting on a waiver claim as all the players cut by other teams have to go through the waiver process. I wonder if they have a claim in for somebody and need to see if they get their guy before making final roster decision.
