SVG says Augustin is "the better guy right now at point guard." Jennings: "Then he should be the starter."

SVG stated that DJ wanting to get in the lane is one of the reasons he stuck with Augustine, yet while watching the game, i didn't see much production when DJ did get in game. i think we struggled with ball control let a lone scoring towards the end with DJ. i would have thought jennings would at least be given a shot to change things

DJ looked good in game 1, average in game 2. That's my 2 cents.

Jennings can't get the penetration DJ can though.

Jennings passes better, but if he can't get in the lane it doesn't matter, that's what Van Gundy is seeing and that's what basketball minded people are seeing. DJ isn't perfect but he is outplaying Jennings right now.

It may take some pressure off of Jennings too and maybe he'll look for his shot more coming off the bench.. Loosen him up a bit.

This guy SVG is slowly messing up my team. No way in hell is Augustin better than Jennings.

I'm just hoping that Jennings learns that he isn't guaranteed to start at PG and that he will have to work at it and play smart. I'm pretty sure SVG was thinking along those lines when he signed Augustin.

It's not about who is better. It's about who plays better in the system and helps the team win. Jennings can score 60 a game in summer league but has that ever translated to the NBA other than one game his rookie season?

Jennings to me looks to have no confidence right now..

I mentioned it in another thread, but i hope Jennings takes his low minutes as a challenge to get better and doesn't sulk.
It's hard to say what will happen when it comes to jennings. I still have some faith in him though. He has a higher ceiling than Augustine and I really like augustine.

You're right, it's not about who's better. Our system is ran by feeding our bigs the ball and Jennings is better at distributing the ball. We've lost 2 games with Augustin playing heavy minutes.

SVG and Jennings need to kiss and make-up. I'm trying to see us make the playoffs.

For us to be better Jennings can't be afraid to take it into the lane. DJ pushes it into the lane constantly. That's what Van Gundy is seeing - penetration. If Jennings was doing it, he'd be playing.

and Jennings is better at passing the ball. that's a for sure.

i think how jennings responds to this is goign to determine rest of his career. If he lets his play do the talking and takes the bench role, then he'll be seen as a team player, if he b* and sulks, he'll get the peception of a lockeroom cancer.

Matter fact, how jennings responds can actually cost him millions next year. Cancer vs team player

I do have to say that Jennings is playing much better on defense and more under control than last yr. if he had a great 15ft pull up jumper his inability to get into the lane would be minimised. I do like what Jennings is trying to do. Its just realy hard to make an impact when you cant go right, have no midrange jumper and you arent taking all those horrible fade away 3s from 35ft. He is being asked to do things he has never done before.

I'm excited.

Jennings is a much better passer but he doesn't get into the paint. As I said before, since we had no offense, I think SVG went with Augstin because he can get easy percentage shots. DJ had a horrid scoring game but I don't see this is an indictment on Jennings yet.

Jennings, unlike Smith, has looked much better. Loss shots but more passes.I think once Greg returns, Jennings and the rest of the offense will look a lot better. But a starting lineup of Jennings/KCP/Singler/Smith/Drummond is horrid since there is not one consistent scorer in the bunch. I think KCP will get it, but right now Greg is our only reliable offensive player,

Augustin had a better +/- in both games than Jennings.

I like Augustin but he's not that much better than Jennings. Didn't really work well in longer stints. I felt like Jennings should have given more chance, especially in Denver match.

Anyway, Jennings should get on with his play and SVG has plenty of time solve what to do in PG position.

How about: If DJ is the better guy, he should get the most minutes. If Jennings is a competitor and thinks he's the better guy put your big boy pants on a compete.

Jennings has been big on potential and small on production. Make something out of your minutes and shut the heck up.
